Gateway zx4800-02 shuts down after 4 or 5 minutes

overheating would be my first guess my next guess would be a bad power supply but unfortunately there are many possibilities:( you could try booting the machine from a disc and this at least would tell you whether the operating system was corrupted or the hardware because if you boot from a disc and it still shuts itself off then it is a hardware issue. if you want more information about how to boot from a disc just ask:)

My computer shuts it self off for no apperrent reason and at differrent times. sometimes it will stay on a minute sometimes it will stay on a hour. i dont even have to be using it for it to turn itself...

take the cover off and see if it needs cleaning it sounds like thermal shutdown (overheating) after you have checked and or cleaned it start it up and make sure all the fans are working.

Gateway gm5442 very slow to boot, 20 to 30 minutes.

You said you tried different CPU, but it was the same motherboard, right? Maybe the motherboard speed (data bus, etc.) is just slow. Otherwise, there's not much left to try if the hard drive works OK in another computer and you've tried upgrading the memory, CPU, and power supply.

My gateway 510x keeps shutting itself off. Sometimes after 5 minutes of booting up sometimes after 30 seconds. What could be the problem? Tried removing dust from the inside but that did not help.

sounds like your processor fan shut down and now your processor itself shuts off when it begins to over heat replace fan asap and don't keep trying to turn it on because you'll burn it out

E machine monitor turns itself off and on

The same thing happened to me today. I was just sitting in my room then i hear a click and the cpu is on it stays on for a while then cuts off. It then cuts on and off with few seconds in between. It then stays in that way cutting and off for about a minite or two and then cuts off completely. A few minutes later it starts again. Also in the time it its off it will not turn on by pressing the power button. Sometimes it completly boots up by itself and then shuts itself down. If I shut it down manually while its on it'll turn itself on immeditaly after. What's going on! Will the warranty cover it? Do I need a new computer?

Computer powers on but shuts off by itself after about a minute.

Take the left side panel off and check the CPU fan for dust build-up.
You can use some canned/compressed air to clean it. Be careful not to knock off any components. You can also re-seat the RAM/ memory sticks while you are in there. Good luck!

Computer not booting to Windows and sometimes freezes

this cud be many causes, a corrupt driver or overheating
try booting into safe mode to find out if it is a driver or software issue, if it does not then i wud suggest checking your cpu fan is working as you say it shuts itself new cpu's have a thermal protection built into them to stop the from cooking.....
