Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

1 Answer

I have an Acer Aspire 3680 and about a month ago I had to replace my hard drive because it said a failure was immiment. I ordered the recovery disc from acer and totally re-done my laptop. Well last night, I had that blue screen pop up and it said a problem was detected and windows had to be shut down. The error it gave was KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. Tech data...0x0000007A, 0xc0000185, 0x18349884, 0xC000E000. Physical memory dumped failed with status 0X0000185. Now all of a sudden its saying the same thing like before that a hard drive failure is immenint. Why is this happening if I just replaced my hard drive? Could it be going out again? Im at my wits end with these problems, I even done another recovery and and it continues to say my hard drive is failing. When Windows ran the memory diagnostics tool, it said no problems detected. Im at a loss and don't know what to do next...please any detailed help will be greatly appreciated.

Whilst this error can occur due to a faulty hard drive or corrupt page file, but is also a symptom of faulty RAM memory. Unless you have heard "clunking" noises from your new hard drive, its unlikely to be the new disk this time.

Re-seat the memory first. If you have two memory modules installed try removing one at a time (see page 67 of the manual here ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5600/manual/AS%205600_3680.pdf )

Check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help pinpoint the device causing the error. Disabling memory caching of the BIOS might also resolve it. Finally, if all the above steps fail to resolve the error, take the system to a repair facility for diagnostic testing. If you the laptop is overheating, or you can't hear the fan running then fan failure might also be a possible cause.

Failure to bootup

This message means that the computer could not find the MBR (master boot record) & the most likely cause is a hard disk failure. To prove this obtain an installation disk of an operationg system, say Windows XP, place the disk in the drive, and while its booting up, press F2. From the menu set the boot order to... 1. CD rom drive. Save and exit. The machine will now begin to install the operating system to your hard drive. If you get the same message again, you have a hard drive failure and it will have to be rep-laced.

Hi:
Your hard drive is in dire trouble, and often you can still recover files from it sometimes. One suggestion is to buy a new hard drive, install your operating system on the new drive, and get your computer up and running, then install your old hard drive as a secondary slave hard drive and see if you can copy your files to your new hard drive.

Sounds like a virus. Remove the drive from the laptop and connect it to another computer using a USB cable. These cables can be purchased for around $20 from tigerdirect.com or compusa.com. After it is connected, scan the drive for viruses using your desktop antivirus program. If you do not have an antivirus program, I recommend that you download Microsoft Security Essentials for free from Microsoft's download site. http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Acer Aspire 3680 start up

This is generally caused by a hard drive failure. You can try to repair or reinstall the operating system with your recovery or operating system disc. If you have any issues or problems during or after the repair/reload then the hard rive has failed and will need to be replaced.

Acer Aspire 3680 Complete Restore

http://www.acerpanam.com/us Go to that website and click on "eRecovery Disc Purchase". Acer does not come with recovery discs. It only comes with a recovery partition from which you can make recovery discs. If they discs were not made you'll find the provided website useful. If you're trying to recover from your recovery partition, then continuously hit the F11 key at startup. This F11 option is not always displayed. If this doesn't work then your hard drive is corrupt or damaged and you will need the discs (and potentially a new hard drive).
