Question about HP PhotoSmart C4180 All-in-One Color InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

We have a photosmart 7760 but whenever we want to switch to the photo cartridge (58)and print a few photos and then switch back (56) for regular printing, by the next time we go to print photograghs the 58 cartridge is dried up or not all the colrs come out right during printing. It seems to be a lot of money to spend on a cartidge to only get one solid usage out of it. What can be done? The holder for the cartidge doesn't keep it from drying up.

When you take the cartridge out, wipe the head (the gold area on the bottom) with a slightly damp tissue and put a piece of scotch tape on the head to seal it from air. It should maintain the cartridge in good condition until the next time you use it.
You can also look for some special inkjet head cleaning solution, which can be used to revive a dried-out printhead.

HOw to install ink cartridge on HP Photosmart7760

Install the ink cartridges.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Lift the top cover.
  3. Open both ink cartridge cradle latches by pulling each latch forward and then up.
  4. Pull the pink pull-tab to remove the clear tape from each ink cartridge. Do not touch or remove the copper contacts.
  5. Insert the HP #57 tri-color ink cartridge in the left stall. Insert the HP #58 photo ink cartridge in the right stall.
  6. Close both ink cartridge cradle latches by pushing down on each latch until it snaps into place.
  7. Close the top cover and press the OK button to print a calibration page. This verifies that the print cartridges are installed correctly.

Can I replace the 57 cartridge with the 58?

'58' should only be used with 'photo' paper, '57' is for everyday use.

It comes with HP #57 (C6657 A)—Tri-color print cartridge and HP #56 (C6656A)—Black print cartridge and the 56 must always be in there (the black one) but acceptable replacements for the color one are as follows: HP #58 (C6658A)—Photo print cartridge I suggest for the best photos use 58 and 56.

You may have a leaky green cartridge. Sounds too simple, but try replacing that if you have an extra.

Photo ink 58 do i put it on the right side and what other ink cartridge do i need to use

Normally, you keep the regular tri-color cartridge in the place it already was.. You should be taking the black cartridge OUT and putting the 58 Photo cartridge in...

FYI.. the 58 photo cartridge provides you with LIGHT magenta, LIGHT Cyan and a PHOTO Black -- which are supposed to give you truer tones and 'half-tones' for shades and nuances in color (like different grades of blue in the sky). The Photo black helps the photo not look "green" on black areas when there is a reflection on the photo... (with regular ink, when you get a reflection off of the shiny paper you often see a green-ish like color and it looks rather odd... the photo black stops that.)

Printing from wrong cartridge

Basically on that issue try to adjust the settings on the printing mechanism, maybe your settings when printed a photo is just for a black and white,,but usually host cartridges that comes in the box, have little amount of ink its just for testing the product if it works fine..or try to go to control panel, printer and faxes, right click on the icon->properties->print test page...after that on the same process again go to printing preferences and try to clean the cartridge.okiez...hope this can solve the issue....have a nice day!!!

Hp photosmart 7350

The 7550 takes three cartridges 56(black) 57(tri-color) and 58 (photo).

If you replace the 57 but the 58 is also empty and still in its slot - you get green tinted photos.

So, check to see if you have the 58 photo cartridge still installed, and if it is out of ink. If so - remove the 58 - the printer will then default to "reserve mode" and you'll get better color.
