Sounds like you had some mounting screws come loose from the roller brush motor. There is no way to get at that part of this machine. It will need to go back to the factory and get it refurbished.

I can't get my Dyson to switch from flat floor to carpet mode. I push the tiny red button on the brush part, but I get this horrible noise. I already followed the video and cleaned the brushes

The horrible noise may be something wrong in the brush bar assembly preventing the brush bar from spinning freely. Remove and inspect the brush bar and belt or belts if applicable to your model.

My dyson DC24 makes a horrible noise when the brush is spinning.... like it's not stable.

Hi Michelle, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC24. The rattling noise could be caused by something obstructing the brush bar. Please take a look at the video attached, and make sure the cleaner head is free of blockages, and the brush bar is free of any threads or hair. Once you've removed the brush bar, check both this and the cleaner head for any visible damage.

Once you've reassembled the machines, please test it to see if it's still making the unusual noise. If it is, our experts will be happy to help further - and if a replacement part is needed, they can confirm if we're able to order this under the terms of your machine's 5-year guarantee.

You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Best wishes,

Jack

DC07 grinding noise

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

Terrible noise

That noise is the clutch. A very expensive part and very hard to replace. When a problem with the clutch happens it's generally not worth the time and money to replace.

I suggest getting a different type of vacuum, maybe a Miele or Sebo. With the money spent on one of those vacuums, you wont have problems like you would with a Dyson. And the cleaning power is so much more powerful than what any Dyson can offer.

Sometimes while I'm vacuuming, the front of the vacuum makes a horrible noise. If I lift up the front end, it stops. Any ideas?

I just cleaned the small metal drive gear inside the brush housing. That solved my problem. It seems that some junk can build up in the drive gear which makes the belt slip on the gear. That is horrible noise you are hearing.

Motor or beater bar making horrible noise

The belt could be damaged. Call the Dyson helpline. They will listen to the noise and troubleshoot it for you. If it is the brushbar motor they will have a repair dealer look at it. If it is the belt that is damaged, their solution will depend on whether your machine is still under warranty or not.

The beater bar makes a horrible clunking noise when I turn it on

I just came from the repair shop. There is a recurring problem with a bearing coming out. Repair guy turned it on & said that loud noise is a symptom of that exact problem. This is a warranty item, as is the belt & on/off switch. Dyson comes with a 5 year warranty, so call their 800 number to get the name & address of an authorized repair shop.

Suden loud noise when vacuming carpet

Hi.

Check that brush roller (beater bar) is free to turn with no obstruction.
If it is still noisey after doing this try this site for Dyson repair manuals.

Dyson Animal DC07 making a horrible noise!

Ensure plug is not in the socket.

remove the guard from around the roller on base of Dyson by turning 3 screws 90 Deg anti clock wise.
unclip belt from the metal spindle from the motor.

Pull out the roller.

Pull the end of the roller out.
They do not screw, they just pull out.

Clean the muck out from inside the roller ends.

Put end caps back on.

put belt on and thread through the slot.

put belt back on to motor spindle.

Ta da it stops squeeling.
