You need to press and hold the "lock" and "home" buttons for 30 seconds (when you see the apple logo).

Release the lock button and continue holding the home button.

Open iTunes and wait for it to prompt you to restore your phone.

If this does not work, you can try some alternative methods here:

If you are trying to jailbreak your phone (which is what it sounds like), I would not recommend iBriker. Use ZiPhone instead,

Corrupted software

It isn't often that Apple gives specific directions about how to fix your problem! Restoring the iPhone 4 will erase everything on it, so make sure everything on the iPhone 4 is stored elsewhere prior to restoring. To restore, connect your iPhone 4 to a computer with iTunes installed. Click "Restore" on the iPhone 4 summary page (click on your iPhone icon on the left menu to find this page). Follow the directions to restore. If your iPhone 4 displays the text "Please wait. Very Low Battery," leave it plugged in. This charges the iPhone 4 enough to be able to restore. If the iPhone 4 hangs on this screen for long periods of time, you may need a new battery.

Force restore mode

If your iPhone 4 is hanging with an Apple logo, or exhibiting some other software problem that prevents iTunes from recognizing it, you can force it into recovery/restore mode and then use iTunes to restore the software.
If the device is powered off, plug one end of your USB cable into the iPhone 4 and leave the other end disconnected. Press down on the Home button, and keep holding it down while you plug the USB cable into your computer. After 5-10 seconds, you should see a "Please Connect to iTunes" image on the iPhone 4, and iTunes should prompt you to restore the software; follow the prompts and the instructions given above.
If the device is powered on, hold down both the power and home buttons until the device reboots and displays the "Connect to iTunes" image (generally, 5-15 seconds).
God bless you

First check to make sure your charger is working, plug it up to the computer and see if the battery charging display comes up.

Second I would check to make sure the battery is actually charging.

Third try a cold boot, hold the power and home keys down while it boots it could just simply be locked up.

I just cleared my iphone. It wont boot to the screen where it says to connect to itunes. it starts up with the apple logo, then shows that rotateing thing over the apple logo, then it stops rotateing, and...

To resolve this issue, you will need to restore your iPhone to factory settings This means any data (music, movies, contacts, etc.) will be erased and the iPhone brought back to it's factory settings (like the day you got it).
To do this, follow the steps below:
1. Make sure your iPhone is disconnected and powered off. If it's not already, hold down the power button until the "Slide to Power Off" message is displayed and swipe to turn off.
2. Connect the USB end of the data cable to your computer, do not connect the other end just yet.
3. Connect the other end of the data cable to the iPhone and immediately press down & hold the "Home" button.
4. Continue to hold down "Home" button , until the iTunes logo appears and the USB connection is displayed on the iPhone's screen.
5. Open iTunes (if it hasn't opened automatically) and a message stating that it has found an iPhone that is in recovery mode. (If you don't get this message and the iPhone just boots like normal, then the timing between connecting the iPhone and holding the home button wasn't fast enough. Try again from step #1).
6. Click the "Restore" button and iTunes will automatically download and install the latest iOS version for your iPhone.
The process should take about 20-45 mins, depending on your internet connection. Once complete, the iPhone will reboot and will be restored to factory settings.
Since iTunes requires that all data be synced through there, if you have made any backups to your iPhone, you'll be able to re-sync your information back to your iPhone at this time.

My apple iphone USB Device Not Recognize what will

Go to and download and install itunes, then reconnect the phone. If you already have itunes do this, but realize this will clear the info from your iphone, but if you have the info in itunes, it will sync back anyway. So just know, this does a factory reset:

Turn iphone off by holding power button on top left and sliding the red bar to shutdown.

Now, take the usb cable and have it not connected to the computer, but connect it to your iphone, so now you have the usb cable just connected to the iphone which is completely off.

Now, hold down the circle button on the iphone, and keep it held down. Then insert the usb cable into the computer, while still holding the button down. After a minute or two, you will get a screen on the iphone with a white usb wire pictured on the screen, and if you did it right, the connection should then pop up on windows. After you do the restore, you can then use itunes and plug in the usb like normal, all should be fine.

good luck!

My i phone will not get pass the apple screen

first this is what you need
itunes latest version computer, of course, usb cable for your iphone internet connection

Connect the iPhone to iTunes. Hold down the POWER+HOME buttons together for about 7-8 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear. About a second after the Apple logo appears, release the POWER button, but keep holding the HOME button until iTunes detects your iPhone in "Recovery Mode" Release the HOME button then itunes shall ask you to restore Do a "Restore" on your iPhone as you normally would
this would take awhile, and you would notice that the phone seems not to be doing anything, it is normal, let i proces for 20 to 30 mins maximum, depends on internet connection and pc speed, wait for it to finish until itunes says it is done.
