I have only 30,000 miles on my 2006 Jeep Commander.

The Dealer's Service Advisor is recommending the below maintenance...
Change Differential fluid $144.95
Trans. Service $159.95
Induct. Service $189.95
Replace Spark Plugs $199.95
Is all this really necessary at this time? BTW it is 2-W Drive not a 4-W.

I looked up the maintenance requirements listed in the owners manual, and was surprised to find the following: 'B' service schedule is for vehicles that: day or night driving @ 32degrees F or less, stop and go driving, excessive idling, dusty conditions, short trips under 10 miles, 50% of driving at highway speeds @ 90degrees, towing, carrying heavy loads, police, taxi, delivery use. If ANY of these apply, Jeep recommends you go by 'B' schedule. (Does anyone qualify for 'A' schedule?) which at 30 k recommends what you list minus induction services (they recommend check air element , replace if necessary, and in addition to your list they recommend oil and filter (if over 3 months since changed I believe), rotate tires. Wow, I didn't think any vehicles required a plug change at 30k anymore. The most expensive plugs I could find were NGK platinum at $10 each. Don't know how hard they are to change, but even at that price (other brands just as good and less expensive) you would save $119.95 on plugs alone. 2 suggestions, check another dealer (I just priced 30k service for my 07 F-350, one dealer $425, another $575, parts/fluids to do it myself $125. So shop around, a private garage would be less than a dealer, or invest in a great service info manual (ask, and I'll tell you which I recommend), and do it yourself. If the Jeep is still under some type of warranty, make sure to keep all receipts to show the work was done, or when it's time to sell it, good idea to have records to show a potential buyer.

The differential and trans service is a must, but the induction and spark plugs can wait till the 60k. There are 2 different types of service schedules. Regular and severe. The dealer will always recommend severe driving service.

Replace engine oil and oil filter
Rotate tires

Check parking brake adjustment
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots
Inspect suspension components
Inspect driveshaft boots
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
Inspect exhaust system#
Inspect fuel lines and connections#

Adjust the valves during services A, B, 1, 2, or 3 if they are noisy.

Maintenance Minder 6 Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2006 Honda Ridgeline:

Replace VTM-4 rear differential fluid: Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher level of mechanical (shear) stress to fluid or frequently fully loaded. This requires differential fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If you regularly drive your vehicle under these conditions, have the differential fluid changed at 7,500 miles (12,000 km), then every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

How often to change tranmission fluid on a 2002 lincoln ls

Hi Gary,

There is a small dilema here. The Owner's Manual for your Lincoln says to refer to the Maintenance schedule to find the proper interval for replacing your transmission fluid. Here is where the problem arises: The Maintenance schedule published for your vehicle says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals for several transmission models. Then it "excepts" the models that are not lsted by transmission model number in the preceeding text - yours is not listed.

Then, when I go to the service manual and search by your vehicle (2000 Lincoln LS) it says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals without any exceptions.

Here is what I recommend to my customers:

CHECK the fluid every 30,000 miles and REPLACE the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles. I have found that this works for almost every make and model out there. I have several customers with over 300,000 miles on their cars that have never had transmission overhauls.

I have a '06 Eclipse GT V6 with 40K miles on it. I called the Mitsubishi service department to do either 30K or 60K scheduled maintenance. They have marked down on the quote sheet for automatic...

You need to do the trans fluid and power steering every 30,000 miles on all vehicles. Forget what they say
I used to own a trans shop.
Flush Brake fluid every two years
Coolant every three
Spark Plugs at 60,000 miles
Fuel Filter 30,000 miles.

I would stay far away from the dealer
Go to a local shop

What is most important maintenanace service at 30,000 miles for 2006 Jeep GC HEMI V8? is it spark plugs? Any suggestions?

the most important (in my opinion) is changing the transmission fluid( transmissions for those cost about $4,000.00 to replace) its supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles. ( spark plugs can last up to 100,000 miles before needing replaced.)

WHAT DOES PREFORM SERVICE MEAN ON THE 2006 JEEP COMMANDER

this light is programed to come on from the factory, i think its every 7,500 miles to remind you to change the oil and also there maintinance book lists things to do every 7500 miles most of it is wasted $$$.as long as you change your oil and prefrom your 30,000 mile services dont worry about that light, this is how to reset the light.1. turn key on engine not running 2. fully press gas pedal to floor 3 times with in 10 seconds of turning key on, 3. turn key off 4. your all done. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I have 60K miles. When is recommended transmission fluid change?

It should be done between 30,000 to 60,000 miles. 30,000 miles if you do lots of stop and go traffic like in rush hour and up to 60,000 miles if your out on the highway most of the time. (less gear change) As long as you service your transmission on a regular schedule, it should last you the life of the car. $100.00 service every 3 years is a good investment since a transmission replacement is around $2,300. Hope this helps and good luck.

What does service D mean?

Mercedes Benz , catigorizes the services,
a, b, c , d, , etc. The owners manual should explain what the service is. For Example. service A could mean check all fluids and lube all body parts at 30,000 miles or every 6 months.

Service D could me check and change all fluids. Engine oil, transmission, brake , coolant Etc.

Again check the owners manual for the service or call a Dealer and speak with a Service Advisor in the service department. They will be able to explain it.

30,000 mile service

Do you have the owners manual? It will list what the manufacturer recommends at 30k. Better yet, ask the dealer what is included for the $600+. If you post the list to me, I'll give you my opinion on what I recommend to have done, and what I believe isn't necessary. I have driven many cars to very high mileage, and all of these vehicles never went to a dealer for service (new and used). I feel the many service checks are for people that abuse their car, have money to burn, and want to support the dealerships service department. Honda makes a quality vehicle, if you change fluids and filters, you will enjoy it for many miles/years. Hope to hear from you with list.
