The console does not come out to free the radio up - you'd actually need to remove the radio in order to remove the console. Look along the bottom edge of the stereo's face. You'll see two small, thin slots there. You need radio removal keys to get it out. You can buy those keys at Walmart for about $4 in the stereo section. Put them in, rounded sides outward, and push until they click. When they click, they've freed the locks up. Then just pull back on them and the radio will slide out.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Location of starter motor on 1997 audi a4

It depends which engine you have.
On V6's it is on the right hand side at the bottom rear of the engine.
You will need to remove the alternator and possibly the right hand engine mount to give yourself enough room to remove it.
Removal of the alternator requires the radiator support to be in the service position.
