Re: camera problem

Try new batteries anyway. There's always a chance that your existing batteries are no longer any good, even if they aren't very old.

When I press the power button, it says lens error camera will automatically shut down and it just turns off.

Remove battery and memory card, keep aside tap the lens on the palm and insert the battery as you repeat the tap. Repeat to see if there is any foreign particles that has stuck on the lens mechanism. If these steps dont work thenthe camera must be opened to check if the motor drive, motor is faulty.

When I turn the camera on it says access , the lens goes in and out then I get a beep and message reads turn the power off and on again. I've done this over and over again and it still won't work. ...

One thing to test before going to repair, make sure you are using a fully charged and correct battery for your camera.
If so, the camera will need repair. This is a common problem and can be fixed. Teleplan Camera Repair does a great job and their blog is also very informative.

Hello samtx930, "turn off the power and on again" its a very commen problem and occurs when the lens block assembly start malfunctioning. Actually the slide motor not work properly and until the lens not come out completely the camera will not work, that's why the error message appears "Access" and then screen shows "turn off the power and on again". In this situation you have to replace lens block assembly. And the part No. is with description is given below: 1-788-363-11 OPTICS UNIT (ED13A) Thanks for using fixya.

My camera says "Turn the power off and on again"

there is a problem with the lens already and it might need replacement. chances are the price of a lens is almost equivalent to a new camera.. just buy a new one.

Turn camera off then on again?

I posted and looked around more online- I found this, did it and it worked! I just held camera with lens upright and used my left thumb and applied pressure when turning off with right thumb.

"I have dsc-w70 with lens stuck out . When you turn it on , you will see a message turn the power off . I've just fixed this morning without any tool and it took only a second . When i turn the power off with my left thumb , i used my right hand to squeeze the lens with little push it in , it will be back to the right position it should be . My camera is working great now like before . Do not affraid , hope everyone can do it . Good luck ."

Screen shows only 'Access'

You have probably dropped the camera. If you are brave enough to open the camera up you can put the rollers back on track. Not a difficult problem to solve.
