Remove the ink, turn off the printer, turn on the printer after several seconds, wait for the printer to cycle and give you a "no ink" error light. Open the lid of the printer. Wait for the print head to position itself, then install your ink and close the lid.

Many people ram the ink in before the printer does that last cycle; it can lock the printer, cause an error, or in a worst case scenario it can strip the gears on the head permanently damaging the printer.

HP Deskjet D2360 Printer

Cartridges have small electrical contacts. It sounds as though either the cartridge is faulty or it may have got stuck in the wrong place.

Firstly turn off the printer.

If you are using it with a computer via a usb connector, disconnect the lead from the printer.

Disconnect the power lead from the printer.

Lift the lid to gain access to the cartridges.

Ensure they move freely along the track from right to left.

Remove the cartridges and re-insert them one at a time.

Close the lid, reconnect the power lead and USB connector.

Switch the printer back on.

If you are using it with a PC, your computer should automatically detect it after a few seconds. If it doesn't then restart your PC.

If this does not clear the problem, try new cartridges. If it still does not work, the printer may have a control fault.

Hope it works, good luck!

Printer prints in color but has gaps

Have you tried a new colour cartridge? This is a classic sign that the cartridge may be low on ink. When printing text, assuming you are printing black, it is likely that the black cart is doing most of the work so the gaps are insignificant. You could try printing text in several different colours. If the colour cartridge is low, you'll find that some colours may be ok but others may have gaps.

Best to try a new cart if you have one.
