Nope you can reset the cmos but on laptop you have to take apart to remove small watch battery try booting to safe mode or you could reinstal operating system cheaper than replacing hard drive

I have a toshiba laptop and when i turn on my computer it asks for a hdd1 user password

The reason for your problem is that a password has been set, in the BIOS. Find out who set it and what it is , then you will have a working Toshiba again.
You could try contacting Toshiba technical but I am sure they will say, "Take it to your dealer with proof of ownership" as the password option is for securuty.
Hope this helps.

Hdd1/ssd1 password

I have bought a used toshiba satellite L555D-S7006 with windows 7 home premium 64 bit with the amd processor, it was working great. Well the other day I turned it on and it said to enter the bios password, I never put a bios password into the computer. I did some research on this and took the motherboard over to a freinds and he removed the cmos battery, after i reinstalled the motherboard now its asking for a HDD1/SSD1 password. So does anybody have any ideas about how to fixx this problem

HDD1 pasword

This is a feature in newer laptops, to protect the files on a "stolen" laptop from being accessed by the thief.

If you have set a password, enter the password.

If you have not set a password, did one of your friends/family set a password?

If no password has been set, turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Reinsert the battery.
Restart the computer, and see if it still asks for the password.

Toshiba laptop is asking for HDD1 password when i turn it on modle is equim a200-151

Sounds like someone put a bios password on your comp, to reset the bios take out the CMOS battery and reboot, this should take off the password and you should be good to go.
