Listen carefully Bunny, turn off the camera, take out the batteries, whack the left side of the camera 3 times with your palm, whack the bottom of your camera with your palm 1 time. Put the batteries back then turn it on.

When I turn on the camera the lenes goes in and out then i get a message on the screen Access turn off then power back on

I tried the solutions posted by StephanSA and my camera is fixed now. What I did was assisting with the motion of the lens and blew between the lens and casing and then dried up the lens with the help of a hair dryer (don't heat it up to much)....Thanks Stephan, you just saved me a few hundred dollars.

When I turn my camera on, the lens goes in and out and the screen says "Access," then says "turn off and back on" but it never comes on.

Lens of camera is bad and requires replacement that would cost more then camera worth. Best option is to buy another camera.

The lens comes out then the camera turns off

Your camera has it own doctor built in, if it sees an internal error it will shut down. When a camera turns on it goes through a series of tests, if one of these test fails your camera records an error. If the lens is moving in and out your camera is trying to get the lens to function. As such you have a faulty camera.

The lens goes in and out and the screen says access and camera says that I need to turn camera power off

I wish I could help you guys.

That shock you got was from the flash units capacitor that is located to the right side of the lens. It is indecated by two silver solder connections - there is about 300V DC on there! It hurts!

Have you actually taken it to a Sony service centre or dealer?

They should be able to help you. That lens unit costs about 1/2 of what you paid for the camera.

It is of course the lens unit that is faulty. I could give you a part number for the lens, but you need special software to replace it.

Good luck.

Screen shows only 'Access'

You have probably dropped the camera. If you are brave enough to open the camera up you can put the rollers back on track. Not a difficult problem to solve.

Camera lens comes out and goes back in when I turn it on.

Sounds like the lens can't get into the proper position. Any possibility of damage to the lens?
