Go into the menu and reset the settings to factory default. if that doesn't help, you may need to replace the main board (eca controller).

ECHO MOBICELTABLET.HOW do I change display from vertical to HORIZONTAL?

The user manual that I was able to find quickly is not very clear on that point.

Device -> Display -> Auto rotate screen? If that option seems to be the only relevant one available in the settings, I might try enabling it and turning the tablet to tell it which way is right side up. Then, if I wanted to prevent the orientation from changing back, I might try disabling the same option while the display is the way I want to keep it.

How do i change the screen from vertical display to horizontal

The IBM ThinkPad Z61t computer runs the Windows operating system. Normally, Windows is displayed on a monitor in a manner that makes it easy to read. If you want to change the screen display configuration (from vertical to horizontal), modify the screen display properties in Windows itself. This process causes the computer to rotate the image displayed on the screen by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, depending on the setting you choose.

1.Right-click on an empty portion of the Windows desktop on the Z61t.

2.Click "Properties."

3.Click "Display."

4.Click "Change display settings."

5.Click the "Orientation" drop-down window. Select the "Landscape" option to make the screen display items in a horizontal manner.

Horizontal color line across the screen

Most likely a bad Vertical IC or bad connections on the vertical IC. don't continue trying it on. If you have a bad connection it could do more damage. You also could damage the CRT ( picture tube ). If you remove the cover and look at the bottom side of the PC bord with a good magnifiing glass you may see what looks like rings around the leads comming from the Vertical IC. The Vertical IC is mounted on a heat sink usually towards the front of the set looking from back. If you do see the rings around the leads try reheating with a solder iron. If this dosen't fix you most likely need a new IC.

Monitor displaying everything horizontally

Some monitors don't give orientation feedback to the video card to auto change the orientation when you move from a horizontal screen to vertical. what you need to do is get to display properties and advanced settings (right click desktop > properties > settings > advanced > video card settings > orientation) - you should find an option to change the orientation of the display - correct it accordingly. if the settings are not being saved after you restart, you need a video driver update - find it on your manufacturers website.

Screen is horizontal how do i get it back to it's normal view?

Almost positive it's a hardware related feature. It's usually an option in the video card driver's settings.

You can change it by changing the driver settings for video card in the control panel. An option is usually there in the video card driver settings that allows you to rotate the display horizontally (90 degree or 270 degree) and vertically (180 degree).

Look trough the control panel carefully, find the Video Card Driver... change the rotation settings to 0 degrees and thats it !!!

Go ahead and give it a try... Its surely a prank played on you by your pal...

Do let me know if the problem still persists after this. Just leave a comment here...

The positioning of my desktop's imageis still distorted despite running the easy tune display wizard and my using the auto tune keys on the side of the monitor.

Use the manual methods on your monitor (horizontal and vertical size and position), not the auto tune and see if you can get it to improve.

Try using a different desktop picture as well.

Right click on the desktop where there are no icons, and change the picture. Also, play with Stretch/Center/Tile - stretch will distort a file if it doesn't exactly match your screen settings.

Armed with DMM, tools, and solder...

It is unuaual for the horizontal to go out, leaving a vertical line.
The vertical gets it's power from the horizontal circuit, so if the hor. fails you should have nothing on the display. In this case it may be as simple as the hor. connector to the yoke being burned and not making a good connection. In any case I'm sure the circuitry is ok and you should look for cracked solder joints and/or burned connections. The shut down could be due to there being no hor. deflection, causing the HV to go to high, causing the shutdown. You should check/replace any capacitors that are bad, especially those around the HV shutdown circuit.
