DI-614+ power on problem

I am having a big headache with DI-614+ rev B. Everytime when I must to turn it off I can't turn it on later. After pulling in the plug I have to wait few minutes when its power led lights and everything is on. OK, I could stand it.. but now it doesn't work 4 days. What's the problem? I had opened the hood and took a look, nothing seemed to be toasted.

Re: DI-614+ power on problem

Have you left enough space around your DI-614 to discipate the heat? Maybe it is overheating.

Also, the problem may be with the power supply and not the DI-614 itself. D-Links tends to use the same type of power supply across many models. If you (or a friend of yours) have another DLink device, you may trying using its power supply. Before doing that, make sure that the power supply of your DI-614 and the other one have the same rating. The rating is indicated on a sticker on each power supply.

By the way, opening the cover will void your warranty, if the device is still covered.

Reset dlink 614+ router, forgot password

I don't know for the 614 as there isn't a model like that... Your picture shows a DI-514. Here is the process for that model.

To hard-reset the D-Link Plus DI-514 to Factory Default Settings, please do
the following:
• Leave the device powered on, do not disconnect the power
• Press the reset button and hold (use a paper clip)
• Keep the button pressed about 10 seconds
• Release the button
The DI-514 will then automatically reboot itself.

If you truly have a 614, can you post more about the model number? It's usually written on the bottom of the router.

D-link DI-614 won't reset and the password stays same

For problem that you have posted, you can try doing a hard reset on the device by taking a paperclip and perform a hard reset. With unit on, use a paperclip and hold down the reset button on the back of the unit for 10 seconds. Release it and the router will recycle, the lights
will blink, and then stabilize. After the router stabilizes, open your browser and enter into the address window and hit the Enter key. When the
password dialog box appears, enter the username admin and leave the
password blank. Click OK.
Please let us know if that was helpful enough.

Want to use Dlink DI-514 with Qwest modem to hardwire 2 computers

Believe it or not, Actiontec modems from Qwest are setup as a router already (even though ports are missing from it). You should use a switch instead of another router. Otherwise you will have to configure the DI-514 to act as a switch rather than a router. This is done by assigning a new starting IP address into your DI-514. By default both routers use as the default. You will have to plug the DI-514 seperately into a computer (to take it off the network) and assign a new starting IP address for the DI-514 such as for example. Then you will be able to get it work. I would strongly recommend using a switch instead and turn the wireless on the modem itself (this is why the modem is the router). It will save you some headaches if the power goes out.

Router is not going to work as repeater it will work as an access point but you still have to run a cat 5 cable from your internet source to router. You are better of getting an actual repeater.

DI-524 wireless router as wireless switch

You need to disable the DHCP server on your "slave" wireless router ( the di-524 ). In D-link routers this might be called configuring it to be an "Access point".

When this happens, connecting to the second wireless router should cause your computer to obtain an IP address which is in the range of the first router (that is to say, it will use the first router's dhcp server).

You should be able have your laptop connect with an automatic IP address and have it work.
