Like so many Sony Ericssons, it has a tendency to switch itself off or to report errors such as "inactive sim card." You should inform it to costumer services

Mobile flashing problem

Probably the firmware (software) in your phone is corrupt. To solve this, download 'Sony Ericsson Update Service' from Sony Ericsson Support (sonyericsson.com/support), select your phone from the list and choose to Re-install your firmware. This should solve your issue

My w980 just switched-off. I've connected

when you turn your phone on only the keypad lights up right? or nothing happens?
if nothing happens charge your phone til red led on side turns off
after that please continue to read

its a w980 software problem, very common

the solution is to open up sony ericsson pc suite
then under tools click "phone repair" and follow the prompts
if this fails it means your battery is dead, try charging it and try again
please note this will restore phone to factory state

The phone will not turn on the infared light flshes when I try o turn it on

if the battery is already charged., remove it from your k800i for couple of hours about 3 hrs. then put it bak in the phone., press on button., if this doesn't work flash your phone with the latest software(go to the SE site., the update service is under the supprt tab) if the fone's battery is already drain then fully charge it., then remove the battery and wait for 3hrs
