PNY Attache 64GB usb flash drive Disk is write protected

Normally I'd make something this simple the very first step. Some USB flash drives come with mechanical switch on them that put them into Write Protected mode.

There can be very small slider switch.

And if this is the case, then you must move the switch to unlock position.

Cannot format flash drive.... receive message `disk is write protected`

Usually there is a small switch or colored slide which flips between write protected and writable. If there is no switch it may be the software that is on the drive is preventing the format, if this is the case you may need to use a boot disk like Hiren's boot Cd to format it while not booted into Windows.

My flash drive kingston 8 gb is write protected. how can i open my flash drive?

Hi.

Try these steps.

Carefully switch the write protect tab to Write enabled when inserting the flash in the usb "PC".

try using it. This happens mostly when you are inserting the usb, the tab is pushed to Protected mode without noticing.

If that doesnt work, i suggest you buy a new flash from different brand and less GB.

Good Luck

How do you stop a pny 4gb from being write protected

A flash drive should operate just like any other drive. There is not write protect switch on it like an sd card. But, if the permissions have been set to be write protected on a given file or folder on the flash drive, then one can remove it through the control panel.

Or remove and replace the flash drive and make sure it has the latest driver running it.

Good luck on this operation.
