This can be due to a faulty LOADING drive settings, It can be due to a misalignment of the loading section and so the load does not reset to the PARK CONDITION of the MODE.
It can be a aulty gear, belt or jamming in the drive.
You need to open the player, remove the mechanism and manually check the forward and loading motion which can confirm. If the belt or the drive is jammed this can be checked and replaced or reset.
Check the mode switch settings of the forward loading.
Try to play a music on cd instead of playing dvd. It it plays keep playing until playey got hot and drive off moisture on circuit. Let it cool down then try play dvd. If it can play severy dvd in sequence, then your unit is repaired. Keep using it to avoid condensation inside the dvd player.
The first thing to check is the condition of the disc you are trying to load, if it is so very dirty that the laser can't read it, as might be expected from a child's disc, then cleaning it may well resolve the issue.
I packed up the DVD player and took it back to the store. Well, I came off as
a crazy old lady. It worked fine for them. Brought it back home and plugged it in and works just fine. Thought it must be a cable plugged in wrong, or needed to program something. Didn't know who to ask - thanks -
The grinding could be the laser trying to read, so you could try a CD/DVD cleaner product> It also could be the laser is off track or damaged and you would need to have it repaired or buy a new player.
