I dont know what batteries to use and film to use on my minolta maxxum 70.

The Maxxum 70 uses two 3V CR2 lithium batteries.

The Maxxum 70 can use almost any 35mm film. Color prints, color slides, black-and-white prints. Do NOT use Polaroid instant film or infrared film.

If you need a manual, you can download one at

Did you have the asa film speed set correctly? Thats usually the cause unless your battery isn;t quite right.

What year was the Minolta Maxxum 7000, serial number 16043985? Thanks, Karla

I do not know for certain. You might find that answer on the Yahoo Minolta groups.
The Maxxum 7000 was introduced to the US market in 1985. Sold as the Alpha 7000 in Japan and Dynax elsewhere, it was replaced by the 7000i in a couple years. Then the 700, the 700xi, the 700si, the 70 and the 7 was the last film based 7 series. There
They also made 8000i, 800si, etc. The 9 series was the Minolta Professional cameras and they had the toughest bodies, weatherproofing, higher shutter speeds, and more.
Later models introduced better autofocus, better exposure options, wireless flash, faster film advance, etc.

Why is the film automatically rewinding around 15 shots instead of the end of the 24 shot roll? The batteries are fresh.

the roll sensor is not reading the silver code on the film roll.
Open the camera when you have no film in it.
Clean the film roll slot where the "fingers" are.
These fingers touch the case of the film roll to determine the film type, which includes the number of exposures. You nmay have to "adjust" the fingers so that they make good contact with the film roll case.

Look at different rolls of film, notice the silver blocks are different. If the roll has a "dent" on it, it can't be sensed correctly.

Hope this helps!

Minolta Maxxumm 4 - rewinding too soon

Hey Pix4me,
I would make sure that the manual rewind button on the back of the camera is not stuck in, or you're not accidentally hitting the manual rewind button. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,

clean the contact terminals inside the film compartment. Your camera has an abnormal autorewind switch detection.
