First of all, and I mean no offense here, check that the batteries are inserted correctly, respecting the polarity +-+-. The flat part (bottom) of the battery is the one that sits on the protruding helix-like electrical terminal. Inside calculator, there is polarity diagram.

When you change batteries, the display contrast may become too dim (too light) for the user to see anything. In that case, it can be adjusted.

Adjusting the screen contrast. Here is how to do it.
There is a key labeled 2nd. It is blue on the TI84Plus, and yellow/orange on the TI83Plus.

  1. Press the [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press the UpArrow key (the top of the long vertical key in the Malta Cross like group of keys) and HOLD.
  3. On the top right corner of the screen you will see a number, which tells you the degree of contrast.
  4. Release the UpArrow key when contrast is adequate for your viewing.
  5. If you darken the screen too much, lighten it by the same procedure, pressing the DownArrow.( See #1 and 2 above)
  6. A final suggestion: Repack the new calculator with all its accessories (cables, user guide, batteries, etc..), grab the sales receipt, drive to the store where you bought it, return it and ask for a refund.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for rating this solution.

Testimonial: "Thank you so much. I followed the steps you provided and it works great. Hopefully Walmart will take the other back. Thanks again!!!"

Your thanks are heartwarming during this cold season (in the Northern Hemisphere), but an extra thumb up will have put the cherry on the cake. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Happy Hanukkah. Happy Diwali. Happy New Year.

Very Stange Indeed. Why would somebody whose problem I solved completely, show appreciation by rating the solution 4 thumbs up, then come back a few days later to rate it down. I feel the nefarious doings of some devil at work. Vade retro Satanas!!!

Panasonic nv gs180 has suddenly stopped working. Battery is charged but it will not turn on. There is no power at all. Daughter has her first day at school tomorrow so desperate to get it working please!

Buy a new camera, record what you need, transfer the file to your computer, and return the camera. Is the battery corroded? Sounds like you either don't have the right battery or there's a short somewhere.

Buy a used remote on ebay, put new batteries in it, take it to a dealer and have them test the remote, if it is good have them teach your car to respond to it. it won't cost much and make your son pay for it.

Son ran battery to zero after he broke power cord, now won't boot

Couple of things

First is to let it charge with the lid down for a few hours.
If that does not fix it then check that your son did not use the alternate display option FN F5 or FN F6 on the acers I think

If you still have no luck you might want to ask questions of your son before you take it to a repair shop
