Question about Aprilaire 700 Humidifier

Open Question

Low Humidity I have a 760A. The unit (fan) runs and water runs across the water Panel, but the humidity in the house goes as low 16% on really cold days (furnace runs allot) and never goes above 30% during the colder season. I had this same unit in my old house and it would sweat the windows. What could be wrong? Please help, Boris

i have the same problem with my aprilaire 760 humidifier,it worked fine last year ,but this year i can only get humidity up to 24%,even with the control panel set at 7,the highest it can go,the only thing i did was change the water panel, any connection?

I have the Model 700 with the humidstat on Manual (resistor) but never get better than 33% - changed the solenoid and water panel last week. I live in the Washington DC area where the winter weather is mild - average 30-35F. Due to this the furnace does not run much during the day but at night it does more often. What is the best I can get in a 1600 sq.ft townhome running the control on max (45%)?

SOURCE: Install HE220 HoneyWell , humidity not increasing in the house.

You can try installing the water line to your hot water if it is installed on cold line for more humidification. You should make sure your humidistat is up line 6" @least from humidifier for proper humidification measurement.

SOURCE: aprilaire 600 humidity level too low

you may try running your blower 100% of the time.this should allow the humidifier to stay on even when your not heating. once the humidity level gets to where you want it, you may be able to put the fan selector back to auto. also you mentioned you have a variable blower. this is great if it is set up to run at approx. 20% fan speed when it is not heating or cooling. at 20% you can circulate enough air through the house to humidify without being able to hear the noise of the blower. it will really increase the comfort level of the house if you tend to have hot and cool spots. if it was not set up this way, contact the installer and ask if they can do this for you.

SOURCE: Humidity too low

But by putting it in manual mose, you have to shut it sdown every season. With it in auto mode, and an outdoor sensor hooked up, you won't have to mess with it.

Everything seems to be working - installed a new water panel today - but the humidity level remains at about 30%.

Hi,
If it is very cold out or if the humidity was very low to start with then it will take quite a long time to get the humidity back up. Do you have your thermostat set to run the fan continuously? This will keep the air flowing over the panel and bring the humidity back sooner. If you allow it to just cycle with the heat it will take a very long time to catch up.
Turn the fan switch on your t-stat to "on" and then it will circulate air all the time and help you out faster.

Have a large new house with lots of vinyl clad wood double hung windows on a lake temp today this am is 0 F we have a HRV system house temp is 66 downstairs and 58 upstairs heating with a heat pump and...

Really not efficent to run a heat pump at those temperatures. Below freezing is not good for the compressor in the outside unit. The humidity in the house with the low temp. is causing the condensation on the windows to freeze. Kinda like an air conditoner does in the summer without the freezing humid air from the house goes over the cold a/c coil and the moisture condensates on the coil running down to drain pan. raising the temp. in the house and lowering the humidity should help. I would also recommend running the electric heat in low outside teperatures.

Does not dehumidify

Hello. I am here to help. Let me begin by saying that a dehumidifier only needs to be operated if the humidity in your home is too high. If the humidity is low, the humidifier will have to work really hard to try and remove water from it.

Here is an overview of how the dehumidifier is supposed to work:

When the unit runs, the circulating fan and compressor also run. The fan continually draws room air over the evaporator coils, which are cold, and then over the condenser coils, which are warm. Because the evaporator coils are cold, the moisture in the room collects on them--just as the outside of a glass of icy liquid "sweats" on a warm, humid day. When the moisture on the coils increases, it drips off of the coils into the collection container.

The air then flows over the warm condenser coils and out into the room. This process removes water from the air and, because of the heat from the fan motor and compressor motor, the exiting air is somewhat warmer, as well as dryer.

Aprilaire 600 humidity level too low

The max the aprilaire can put out is 45% Rh. Your humidifier may wired up to run only when the heat is on. In some cases this is not enough time to maintain your humidity level your seeking. To correct this, the hum. has to hooked up the hot side of the water supply. And the humidifier has to be hooked up when the fan runs and leave the fan run constantly
