The 21:10 error indicates a problem with the service station. There is a 90% chance that replacing the service station will resolve the problem. Other possibilities are the interconnect board, the data cable from the interconnect board to the electronics module or the electronics module. Service stations can be ordered from: C7769 60149 Designjet 500 800 Service Station $79 95 Exchange for a refurbished unit or C7769 60149 Designjet 500 800 Service Station $169 Exchange

There is a belt replacement video that shows how to remove and replace the service station as part of the procedure. You may want to watch it before you decide to fix it yourself. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, this is a 1. 5 cover screws, to mounting screws and 1 connector - piece of cake. http://www.lpscomputer.com/pages/designjet-500-800-carriage-belt-replacement

The service station on the printer has likely failed. This is the part of the printer that cleans the printheads to maintain print quality. Replacing this item requires diassembly of the printer and requires a certain amount of technical ability. If you are not afraid to take this on, you will need to contact HP and order Part Number C7769-60149.

If you are going to take this on yourself, post back and I can send you some instructions on the actual replacement of the service station.

Or contact an HP Designjet technician and have them replace it for you.

I am still having a problem with HP designjet 500 Plus showing error 86:01 then writing so:Severe error: 0 x 8010003 task: tMech file: sequence.c line: 636

sounds like the printer is broken pretty badly. Is it still in warranty? Contact HP for a replacement, or else it's time to buy a new one.

Notate the error and put it in a search. Since it appears to be a server error, remove then reinstall the driver software.

System error 21.10 says to replace the service station/Aerosol fan Assembly.

You've got real problems if you don't have a service manual or parts.

good luck

Hp designjet 500 does not work

You probably have a problem with dry ink in the service station. This is the "tank"on the right hand side of the plotter which collects all your wasre ink. I would have a guess that because of the long standing period this has dried and is preventing the station from moving and cleaning the heads. You will have to remove the right hand cover of the machine, then looking directly downwards just behind te display panel you will see two torx screws, loosen them. The service station can then be removed and cleaned. Be sure to disconnect the small plug on the service station motor and fan, also remove the motor and fan before cleaning the station with water under a tap. BEWARE this is a really messy job, your hands will be black (use dishwashing gloves) and it takes a really long time to clean it properly, wait for it to dry in the sun and re- assemble.
Good Luck
Dave

Well this is an old post but my 2 cents anyway...
Theres nothing to really fail on the service station besides the motor and that's highly unlikely.
As a service tech I find that it gets gummed up with in and needs to be broken down and cleaned.Warning, there's lots of parts and lots of half dried ink, so expect to spend an hour getting it out of the machine and cleaning.
