Question about D-Link DES 1005D (DES-1005D) 5x10/100 Mbps Networking Switch

DES-1005 in HUB working mode?

I'm trying to analyze a networking problem with wireshark, but only have a D-Link DES-1005 switch at hand.

Is there a possibility to set this device into a hub working mode to capture all frames?

Re: DES-1005 in HUB working mode?

Unfortunately, the DES-1005 can not be configured to behave as hub and send all the packets to your analyzer software.

Do you have a manageable switch available. Most manageable switches have a "port mirroring" or "monitor" function that allows you to copy all the traffic passing through one port to another port...where the wireshark can receive it for analysis.

What is the default IP address of D-Link DES-1024R for accessing from PC for switch management?

the usual ip add of a Hub or Router or Switch is either or to determine the Ip Add you can check it - Start - Run (for XP) - type Run in the search box and use the Run command - in the Run Box type in "CMD" - a small black box will pop up (that's the command prompt) - then type in "ipconfig" - look for the "default gateway" that's the ip add of the switch or hub or router.
Hope this helps

Getting low or no connectivity error when trying to connect laptop and other devices to 5-port DLINK switch. Lan line going to switch is confirmed working as i'm able to plug the laptop and other devices...

please change the cable which is connecting your laptop to D-Link DES 1005 Ethernet Switch.

This error appears when you have either a bad cable or bad switch or NIC card on Laptop.
As you have Laptop and other devices and getting the same error , so i suspect issue with the cable.

Please use a new Straight LAN cable.

on one computer, go to START>>RUN>>services.msc and press enter, the services window will come up, scroll down & turn OFF DHCP and set to disabled, reboot PC, you should be OK. Also BOTH must be setup on same network name, eg: MSHOME, also both must have an individual name and password. This is under network properties, If you wish to use each others files, you must enable "Sharing" on the hard drive & or folders that you want to share. You can do this by right clicking the drive or folder and choosing "Share" and set that up.

I need a driver for this, lost cd

If you are connecting to the switch using network cable (not usb type), then you don't need software. Just hook up the cable to use it. If your system is not recognizing the switch. then may be you have to install network Lan adapter driver to your network card present in your machine(PC)

I hope this is helpful to you

I need to ask about my problem. I just bought a D-Link DES-1008D and a D-Link DIR-300 Wireless-G Router my problem is after I attach 7 computers on my switch hub. I only have limited local network...

Make sure you're using a crossover ethernet cable to connect the router to the switch. Also make sure that the router has it's DHCP server up and running.

When the computers are powered up and connected to the D-Link hub,
the computers that are connected to the hub will light up the various LEDs on the hub to indicate which port on the hub is active. Also that computer's network card Link LED light should be on to indicate it is connected to the hub.
If the hub's LED is off and the corresponding computer's network card Link LED is off then the network cable is faulty, or the network card is faulty (or the network card driver needs installing) or the port on the hub and/or hub is faulty.
To determine which item is faulty, swap network cables around, swap computers to different ports on the hub etc

Yes the LAN will report plugged and unplugged when the hub goes on and off.

Is this a new or used hub?
If it is used, how old is it?
Is it plugged into a good power source?
If it's plugged into a surge protector, do any other the other items plugged into the surge protector do the same power on and off?
Has it sustained any damage recently (lightening storms, power surges in the house etc).
