Question about Torpedo Toys

1 Answer

Looking for a redline torpedo heater manual.I would also like to buy parts. My heater is blowing out vapor like unburned fuel,it just started this. Is there a special air filter? I made one out of foam, the old one was crumbly. this new filter I made seemed to help but now the heater doesn't seem to burn as hot , it burns now but it still leaves eye burning vapor in the air. What do I do?

Hello,

Here is a link to a company that stocks parts and manuals for almost all types of kerosene and propane heaters. Most of these types of heaters were and are manufactured by one company and private labeled for various other brands.

Without the exact model number for your particular heater and fuel type, I cannot provide you with the manual that covers your heater. However, on the page that the link below will take you to, it has a manual link that should have the DESA manual (they made most heaters sold under other brand names). You can also give them a call toll free at 1-888-917-2244

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Hi HT, Another item you might want to look at, is to give the the burner assembly a good cleaning. It might be that there is some rust and buildup (spider webs and insect) inside the burner, etc.

I would use a brass wire brush to clean off the burner and clear out the orifices on the burner, as well as the venturi tube from the pilot and ignitor. Usually, any foreign objects or contamination can cause a poor flame and thus, increase the amount of unburnt fuel, leading to increased levels of carbon monoxide gases being produced.

You will want to adjust the flame to make sure you have as clean a flame (blue/white) as possible. There shouldn't be any orange flames in the burner, as that is a clear indication of an improperly adjusted flame/burner.

Check your regulator for the proper pressure setting too, as these can become contaminated and cause problems due to lower pressures than required for proper use.

Again, Hope this helps and best regards!

    Merry Christmas!
