Why does my LG LH-RH7500P hard disc recorder keep indicating "please wait"?

If it does it and returns to normal operation, then there's probably nothing wrong with it. Unless you have nearly filled up the hard drive with TV recordings. It might struggle to get going if that is the case.
However if it doesn't come out of it, that's a fault on the unit. It could be a faulty hard drive, or something wrong with the computer circuits of the machine.

All it says is PLEASE WAIT

Hi,

The problem indicates a power supply issue. There are two capacitors that fail in the power supply (the power supply is located under the hard drive holding bracket). You can observe the failed capacitors because they will be appearing slightly bloated, with a slight leakage of substance on the top. By replacing them with spares de-soldered from a functioning but useless electronic device, you can completely restore your unit. The "Please Wait" message is caused by the hard drive not spinning up. The issue was that the power supply was not delivering the proper power to the hard drive. Don't replace your hard drive, you will lose your recordings. Test the power first. If you dont have a good knowledge on fixing this issue then you can get your unit fixed for a flat rate of $130 by Panasonic. There is a special number to call:
1-888-439-2676 1-847-468-5543

Thank you !!

Starts a self check then power goes off

Not sure if this will help. My machine was stuck with a "Please Wait" message. Searched internet, many folks with problem. The fixes all pointed to 2 capacitors being blown. My brother was able to easily solder 2 new ones in and the machine worked perfectly. If you Google the name and model with Please Wait after it, you will see some of the conversations and remedies. Your machine may be heading toward this problem.

Also, beware of storing too much on your hard drive! My machine was working great after the above repair, but I believe I had too much stored on mine and I got a U99 Error Code. Service Center said it can not be repaired and THEY DO NOT MAKE THESE ANYMORE. There are DV machines with a hard drive so you can watch shows, but not to record show/movies. I make DVDs of my son's high school games. Can edit and transfer many games at once with this machine... not with any others!

Do not let this one die on you. It is priceless.

Transfering from a hard drive camcorder to a mini dv

Yes. Using a DV or firewire cable and the right software you can record to DV tape. I know Pinnacle Studio software is capable of doing this and will even control the recording of the taping as well through the sofware.

DV-PC recorder

DV-PC Recorder is a Windows XP only application that enables you to record images and sound on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by connecting a camcorder equipped with the DV CONTROL function to a computer using an IEEE1394 (DV) cable. DV-PC Recorder has the following features. 1. You can record movies simultaneously on your computer's hard disk and on the tape by pressing the start/stop button on the camcorder. 2. It enables long, continuous recordings, which you cannot achieve with the tape alone. (Approximately four and a half hour's worth of recording will fit on a 60GB hard disk.) 3. You can start editing the movies on the computer right after recording, as the images and sound are saved on the computer's hard disk. (Optional editing software is required to edit movies) 4. You can record movies on the tape in the camcorder and on the computer's hard disk by controlling the DV-PC Recorder from your computer.
