Question about Cameras

I have a JVC camcorder model# GZMG37U. It does not keep it's focus even when I have it on the tripod so the camera doesn't move. Could you please find a solution for me. Thank you Velma Goertzen velma@pixius.net

Check if Camcorder focussing mode is set to auto. This is perhaps the simplest and fastest way of focussing but definitely not the sharpest. You just spot the bird into the LCD, frame/compose the video and turn the scope focussing ring until you get a sharp video of the bird. As long as the scope's focus is set close enough to the actual distance, the camcorder's autofocussing mechanism will do the rest to get a sharp bird. However, remember that camcorder's focussing algorithm makes use of the contrast offered by the bird and all surrounding as well as background objects. Most camcorders do not have spot focus algorithm i.e. they evaluate the contrast offered by ALL pixels in the CCD and decide on the 'correct' focus, possibly based on the position of the pixels closest to the average contrast. This usually means that the focus is not set precisely on any part of the CCD! It is also possible that there may be some bias towards parts with better contrast, and I suspect also brighter areas. Depending on the auto programe selected (portrait, landscape, low light etc), there may also be bias towards a closer or further objects. Obviously, the situation is very complex and the camcorder has to do a lot of thinking and calculations! No wonder it is difficult to get a perfectly focussed bird with this method.

change it tomacro mode or manual mode to fix the issue.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

How do I set the resolution on my Canon SD850?

The instructions for changing the resolution are on page 30 of the manual.
If the pictures are fuzzy, increasing the resolution won't help. The most likely causes of fuzzy pictures are as follows
1) Focus. Check to make sure the focus is on the subject. If something else in the picture is sharp while others are not, then the camera may have focused on the wrong subject.
2) Subject motion. If moving objects are fuzzier than stationary objects then you need to use a faster shutter speed (or flash).
3) Camera motion. Just because the camera is on a tripod doesn't mean it doesn't move. One philosophy says that if a tripod is light enough to be carried then it's not sturdy enough. For a compact camera like the SD850 that likely isn't the problem. However, you can still shake the camera when you press the shutter release button. Try setting the self-timer. This allows time for the vibrations to die down before snapping the picture.
In your particular case, I think we can assume that the subject isn't moving, so #2 doesn't apply. To assure proper focus, make sure the painting is flat and perpendicular to the lens axis. If the painting is tilted relative to the camera, then different parts of it will be at different distances and the camera won't be able to keep all of it in focus.
Also, make sure the front of the lens is clean.

I video remote control planes and I am finding that the video is blurry. I have altered a few things but it still seems to be bad quality when I play back. I took auto focus off but that just made it...

Well you may be on digital zoom mode, this simply will not be clear with fast moving takes, keep to the Opt zoom mode and with on tripod this will put focus better, keep camera still, move and it will blur.

Zoom position keeps shifting

in low light situation focus shift. In some recent camcorder you can ''manually ajust the focus'' by entering in the menu and navigating. You could also light up the place like everybody does in the video and film industry. I mean light up, buy a two head 2x500Watts construction light on tripod. Put one on your subject and one on the ceiling to reflect the light and kills the shadow and produces sharp line on hairs ... Basic video lighting ... Look for the right keyword in google and open to a whole new world of quality ....

Nightshoting

Hi nizan_keren,

There should be a button labeled NIGHT on the button panel where the LCD folds into the camera. The product warranty warns that it is difficult to focus with the slow shutter speed, so they recommend using a tripod.

You will need third party hardware and software in order to transfer moving video from your camera to your PC. Depending on what camera you have, a few different options are available to you. For more information on IEEE 1394 connectors locate the websites of manufacturers of this hardware. The following manufacturers firewire products were tested with JVC camcorders: Pinnacle Systems, Belkin, Orange Micro, Digital Origin, Ratoc . Please be advised that compatibility of JVC camera with firewire card may also depends on your particular computer specifications/hardware settings. Even though we tested the above hardware and bundled software there will be always exceptions and JVC doesn’t guarantee that computer, firewire card and JVC camcorder will interface flawlessly in everybody case.
