I can't get my DVR to work. I push the DVR button and nothing happens. Can't seem to record either. Used to work with previous receiver. Supposed to have DVR on both TVs (one receiver) - nothing works. Help!
Just to check the dvr models are 501 508 510 625 522 722 622. if it is a dvr unplug reciever and reconnect to power if the hard drive has failed an error 311 should appear, in this case receiver will need to be replaced

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network. I'm sorry about any inconvenience, but the ViP211 is not a DVR receiver. If you have an external hard drive, you can activate the feature on the 211 to allow you to record movies to the external hard drive. It is a one time $40 to activate the external hard drive feature. If you are still experiencing problems with your 625 receiver performing live DVR functions, try unplugging the receiver for about 10 seconds and plugging back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and acquire satellite signal. After the picture returns, then try to pause. If it still doesn't work, then we may need to replace the receiver. You have indicated that you have a 622 DVR receiver, since this is where your posting was found. When you trying any of the DVR functions on the remote, do you get an error message (024 or 311) indicating that the function is not available at this time? If not, try unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds from the electrical outlet. This will reboot the receiver and re-acquire the satellite signal. Once the picture returns, try the DVR function. If the problem continues, please call 1-800-333-3474; we may need to replace the receiver. I hope this helps.

If it is, try unplugging the receiver's power cord from the wall for 15 seconds then plugging it back in. If the problem continues, let me know what type of connection you have from the receiver to the TV. What type of TV do you have? With the DVR issue, is the freezing happening in the middle of watching a recording?
More than likely, the internal hard drive has failed. I have had this happen to me. I would first do a hard reset, that is unplugging the unit and leaving it unplugged for at least 20 sec. Plug the unit back in, and let it power up. This will take a few minutes to locate the satellites and download the guide. If you still cannot use the DVR after a hard reset, most likely the hard drive is a goner. You can still use the reciever to watch T.V., but you will not be able to record. There is no point in trying to replace the drive because it would cost you more than you would spend to replace it.
Hi! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern. If your directtv hdtv receiver occasionaly pauses for 30 seconds and freeze and the only troublshooting steps that you do is to press the power button for 10secs or unplug the power-hard reset for 15secs. please do this steps 1. check if the software version of your receiver is updated, how to? got to the sysinfo of your receiver by pressing the sysinfo button on your remote or front panel of the hd receiver, write down on a piece of paper the version, then exit the sysinfo, run a check switch test, you need to access the menu of your receiver, once your done with the check switch and test.. turn off the power of your receiver by pressing the power button on the remote, make sure that there are no lights lit so that the satelite will automatically download the software if its outdated and if nothing happen it means that your software is updated. after all the steps that you did, by running the check switch and test.. still problem exist.. call the directtv tech support for the replacement of your hd dvr receiver, this is a dvr lost of function. I have experience that symptoms on my hd dvr receiver as well with one of the sat provider..

Try a hard reboot. Hold the power button on the box till it turns itself off. It will turn itself back on. After restarting try to record live tv. If you can't watch recorded shows either your harddrive may be fried. After thought, a $20 tv tuner card from e-bay for your computer, you could record them to your desktop.
