I suspect you have a bad igniter on the oven manifold. The broiler and oven both use separate igniters, so if the broiler works, you don't have a gas problem. No ignition is most commonly attributed to an oven igniter that is going bad. As these igniters age, they become weak and require replacement. Just because an igniter glows, does not mean it is good. The following link explains some theory behind how they work and how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575727-replacing_an_oven_igniter_on_a_gas_range

Replacements can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary, so shop and compare.

NOTE: If the replacement igniter comes with a connector plug that does not match the one on your range, you will be instructed to cut the old connector plug off and splice the wires together using a set of ceramic wire lugs that are included in the replacement kit. DO NOT attempt to use standard wires lugs. They will melt due to the extreme heat in an oven. The ceramic lugs and the wires on the igniter are heat resistant.

If you have any questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

I just noticed you posted this under DRYERS. You mentioned two igniters which led me to believe this was for a KITCHEN RANGE. A gas dryer does not have two igniters. Please let me know if this problem is for DRYER instead of a KITCHEN RANGE.

LG Trom gas dryer dlg5988B got under water 10 inch. The motor is running, just the gas heater does not burn. Computer is working right. Any idea?

Take top off, start drying cycle and see if you can see an orange glow on bottom right front of unit-the Glow plug igniter. If it glows, then you have a different issue. If no orange glow, replace igniter.

My belling wall oven model number 444440560 keeps going out after only a few seconds ignition how can I fix this thNks

which is going out top or bottom? may want to check the oven safety valve though it does not normally go out compared to other components. may have a bad igniter ( does it glow or lite up at all) it may still glow but not put out enough current to ignite flame? check with multimeter as well. if oven top is going out also check the igniter model or infinite switch

Oven will not light ,broiler and top of range light fine

the ignitor is not working its bad,you should see a bright orange glow below the oven base just as when you start the broiler look up at the top of the oven and watch this ignitor glow before ignition, the bottom should do the same, you can also see this from the back side of the range at the base,if you don't use the broiler you can use that ignitor for the oven ignitor as these ignitors are identical, but then you will have no broiler

This problem is commonly attributed to a bad igniter on the bake manifold in the bottom of the oven. As the igniters age from repeated use, they can become weak and no longer function properly. Just because they glow, does not mean they are good. If you are experiencing ignition problems, the following link explains a little theory about how these igniters work and how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575727-replacing_an_oven_igniter_on_a_gas_range

The burner manifolds in most ovens each use a glow bar or electrode type igniter with a gas safety valve to ignite. Both oven manifolds are controlled by the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board, which is your clock/timer on the control panel. If the surface burners work, but the oven does not, the problem is usually not a gas related issue. If a single igniter is still working (i.e., the broiler still works), its more than likely not a control board issue, either.
NOTE: You cannot light the oven with a match because the manifold uses a safety valve that requires a certain current potential flowing through the igniter to open and allow gas flow. This is a designed safety feature that prevents free flowing gas from entering the oven cavity without ignition. Such a condition could potentially create an explosion hazard.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also offer helpful exploded view diagrams to help you locate and properly identify the parts you need.
NOTE: It is common for the BAKE igniter to require replacement more often than the broiler, due to the frequency of use.

If you have any questions please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven wont light

Gas or Electric? If Gas at the bottom of oven where Oven burner is there is a glow plug ,or some might call ignitor. When it get a signal to ignite gas that glow plug gets hot and ignites gas. and that does goes Bad .

Take top off, then start unit. You can see orange glow in about 10 seconds on front bottom right by looking down from the top if the glow igniter is working.

Gas unit, top burners light, but oven will not light?

The oven uses an electric igniter which needs to come on and heat before the gas valve will open. You can reach the igniter by removing the oven bottom (remove a couple of screws and lift it out) and then removing the baffle plate (one screw holds it). When you turn on the oven you should see the igniter glow if it's working correctly. If it doesn't, check it for visible breaks or test with an ohmmeter. A very high or infinite resistance means it's bad. If the igniter glows but no gas flows, the main valve would be suspect. A number of vendors online have parts available.

Maytag gas oven mgr5770abb Does not light when I try to use oven. Broiler works fine. When I try to turn on the oven, the broiler igniter does not glow. If the bottom igniter was bad, wouldn't the top one...

first I would check to see if you have power (120v) at the bake igniter..when you set in to bake...use a multmeter..(when you turn on the oven to bake only the bottom igniter will come )

good luck be safe

let me know if I can help
