Write to Canon's customer service. I dropped my camera in water briefly and wrote them. They offered me the chance to replace my camera at an outstanding price or have it repaired. Give them a try!

This indicates that the built-in battery of the camera is damaged.(All digital cameras have a tiny built-in battery)
Replace that battery and you'll be OK. Don't ask me how to do that change. Get the manufacturer to point you to the location of that built-in battery or put it to a service centre.
On this camera you have a supplemental litte battery that is just beside the AA batteries. If you pull on the little tab that says CR 1220 you will find a battery that looks like a battery watch. Just replace it, go back into your date/time settings and you should be good to go! It worked for me!
The camera should be able to have its date and time set through the menu and it should hold the date if you switch batteries. If it doesn't then the internal battery may have to be changed by a kodak service center.
The camera screen displays "Date/Time have been reset." What should I do?
This message appears if:
this is the first time that you have turned on your camera.
the battery has been removed for an extended period of time.
the battery is exhausted.
To set the date and time:
Press the Menubutton.
Use the arrows to:
Select theSetupmenu.
Select theDate & Timefeature.
Set the date and time.
When you are finished, press the OKbutton.
For more information, see your camera user's guide for your camera
Press the menu button, scroll sideways (press lightening icon) to Setup (tools icon), then down (disp) to highlight date and time. Press Set or the lightening icon to select the date and time setting, then press disp or the opposite upper part of the rocker to change the numbers, and the lightening or flower to move between the various date and time settings. Press Set when you are through.
If you leave the battery out of the camera for 48 hours, you will be invited to set the date and time at the next switch on.
You can download a manual for a similar camera, the i1036, at polaroid.com, but there does not seem to be a manual for this specific camera there. Try THIS LINK
Date/time are set at "first use" or through the tools menu. Remove the batteries. Leave the camera overnight, this may be enough to lose the current settings and allow setting new date/time.
Press Menu button. Press right arrow on the 4-way controller to get the Tools (spanner) highlighted. Press down arrow to get to date (or time). Press right arrow Now set to your preferred format.
If this does not work, try changing another item in the Tools menu. If that change is not accepted, then it's into the dealer.
Date and time stamp only works in one resolution mode. It's called "Postcard" resolution, and it's the one at 1600 x 1200 pixel width and height. Set your resolution first to Postcard, then set the Date/Time back to on.
If you are familiar with camera repair then apart camera and check navigation switch board is intact with main board of camera. That is only reason of switches no operation in this camera.
Ever since i bought this camera I've had this problem. And no firmware updates available!
I have the same problem, I can honestly say that I have not really cared for the camera from the beginning and now I can't even take or view pics because of the set date/time issue.
