Where you place the paper in the tray.the end of the paper touches to the roller.beside that roller there are gears on both the ends of the roller.and on the base below the roller there is a thin pad pulling the paper. now the problem is either of this three options or may be all of three.
1) the gears are cracked or worn out.
2) the paper pulling pad is gor rubbed out.
3) the roller are not having the traction to pull the paper.
There are rollers that cling on to the paper and move it through the machine. When the rollers are worn down they do not grip the paper. For a short fix you can get something rough like sandpaper, brillo pad, etc, and gently scratch the rollers to give them some traction. This will temporarily solve your problem until you can get the rollers replaced.
you can get the required parts at local printer repair store or also you can get this parts replaced at this store also by there repair technicians.the cost of all the three parts will not be more then $30.
its not a very tough job to do but disassembling the printer and reaching the inner rollers, gears and pad is bit tough job and very much time consuming.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Try brushing the rollers very well. When inner rollers fail to receive paper and roll them out, paper jam results. Usually dust on surface of rollers could cause it. Toner cartridge has nothing to do with paper jam. Also when paper is too thin grammage it results in winding up around rollers. Just get a brush and brush all rollers thoroughly and make sure using paper of at least 80grams.

Brother 2270 laser printer started jamming every time, after I installed a new toner. It was a Brother toner, at that. Anyone experience this?

Silly question first - is the drum unit DR2225 installed?

Check the toner cartridge sits firmly in the drum and that the drum is pushed all the way forward in the internal cavity. If the paper is jamming at the paper pick up roller ie in the paper tray, clean the paper pick up roller with a drop of meths and a drop of detergent on a damp cloth. If the paper jams in the drum unit, check the clear plastic guide flaps are straight and do not catch the paper. Also check that there is not a piece of paper caught in the drum unit. If the paper gets part way through the drum and then jams, check the fuser at the back for a piece of paper crumpled up inside the fuser. If the printer is trying to take ALL the paper at once, check and clean the paper separation shoe in the paper tray.

There is a paper jam...how do I unjam it

Hi dorothyhover,

Here's how you would clear paper jam from your Brother HL 1430:

1. Remove the paper cassette completely from the printer.

2.
Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

3.
Open the front cover and remove the drum unit assembly.

4. Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

Do not remove the drum unit assembly with additional force at this time if you cannot remove it easily. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper cassette.

5. Open the rear cover and pull the paper towards the back of the printer, the fuser may get dirty with toner powder and may result in toner scatter on the next printed page or pages. Print a few copies of the test page until the toner scatter on the printed pages clears.

6. Close the rear cover and install drum unit assembly, close the front cover.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

My Brother HL 5250DN printer has started making a loud clicking sound when it tries to feed paper for printing. It then stops and the paper light starts flashing.

Clear the jammed paper as follows.
Observe Cautions signs in printer.
Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and prevents paper jams.
1. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.
2. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
3. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
4. Close the front cover.
5. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.
6. Open the front cover again.
7. Open the back cover.
8. Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).
9. Using both hands, gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
10. Close the back cover.
11. Pull the duplex tray completely out of the printer.
12. Pull the the jammed paper out of the printer or the duplex tray. Put the duplex tray back in the printer.
13. Push down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
14. Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically.
15. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
16. Put the paper tray firmly back in the printer.
17. Close the front cover.
18. Make sure that the Paper LED is now off and the printer is ready.
After clearing paper jam if noise persist printer may need a Repair Tech and parts replacement for broken or wore parts.

Paper jam on initial feed

It sounds to me like your pickup rollers are worn. You should order a new set and replace them. That should solve your paper jam issue.

Brother MFC 7420 Paper Jam. Paper will feed from tray to Toner/Drum then Jam. Feeds only about 4 inches of the sheet then Jams. I have replaced the toner/drum unit. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

After changing the drum, toner and running around town for days trying to find a reliable place to get this printer repaired, I realized I was spending a lot more money than what the printer actually costs. the drum was over $100, toner was $80, and the printer is $250. I bought a new one, and I can now use the old one for parts.
