Question about Kicker ZX2500.1 Car Audio Amplifier
I was just wanting to know what was goin on with my amp. Out of no where one day it stopped working and started to make a horrible clicking noise. Does anyone have any suggestions?
DISCONNECT THE RCA INPUTS AND SPEAKERS AND POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP WITH THIS NO INPUT, NO LOAD CONDITION. IF THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME, MAKE SURE THAT ALL POWER CONNECTIONS ARE GOOD AND IF POSSIBLE, MEASURE THE VOLTAGE AT THE REMOTE TERMINAL TO GROUND. IT SHOULD BE APPROX. 12 VOLTS. IF LESS THAN 11 VOLTS, YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REMOTE OUTPUT FROM THE RADIO. THIS IS RARE THOUGH. IF YOU CANNOT TEST THE REMOTE INPUT VOLTAGE, THEN DISCONNECT IT FROM THE RADIO AND PUT A TEMPORARY JUMPER FROM THE POSITIVE POWER TERMINAL AND THE REMOTE LEAD. THIS WILL FORCE ANY AMPLIFIER TO TURN ON. IF YOU STILL HAVE THE SYMPTOMS OF INTERNAL CLICKING, THIS IS THE OUTPUT RELAY AND IT IS TRIPPING AS A MEANS OF PROTECTION. AT THIS POINT THE AMPLIFIER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE....V
