Belt change on a Maytag DE410

Is it hard to change a belt on a Maytag DE410 Dryer? How do you lift the top lid? Are there clips I have to pop or? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Craig

You probably don't want to do it all through the top, though the screws and pulling the console forward can help with that.

If the belt, drum support rollers or motor is making squeaking happen, the thing to know is how the belt goes back on; it goes around the drum, and on the underside it goes over the motor hub, wrapping around and back beneath the idler pulley before ascending the drum again.

In order to get to it, you just unscrew Philips screws low on the front face of the dryer, swing the bottom forward until the top clips release, then undo 4 bolts on brackets that hold the drum-front retainer. Oh, and mind that wool is a gasket and bearing material here, not just overpacked lint (though it will do to vacuum the thing out.) Usually the belt, rollers in back and any idler pulley issues are replaced together. I had to sand rust off the roller mount last time; metallic washers on it had worn and contributed the iron, which rusted on the hub, keeping the wheel from turning.

Most of the time these models have screws in the back of the machine on the top lid. You'll need to get over behind the dryer to access this panel. You'll need a "star" type screwdriver (most come in a set). Remove the top lid to expose the drum. The belt will run around the drum and down around the safety cut out switch. This switch is most likely a teflon or plastic wheel that the belt loops around. After installing the belt, replace all of the screws and you're good to go!

Use Zoomspout oil to kill them squeaky noises. Remove the rollers and shine up the shafts with sand cloth. then oil em and put it back together. You need to sit the dryer on a table to get the belt back on. Doing it on the floor is tough.

I cannot find the lid clips on my Maytag dryer MDG6000AWW to remove the top. Any suggestions?

The lid clips - if I understand you correctly - do not need to be accessed - you merely pry the front of the lid up by slipping a screw driver between the lid and the front panel - near the corners. The top will lift out of the clips and lift up - hinged at the rear of the dryer. I don't know the MGD6000AWW in particular, but there are many dryer belt repair videos to look at - all of which require that the top lid be removed. Have a look at these videos to get an idea of what I'm describing.

Good luck!

How do you get to the belt in order to change it on a Maytag Neptune Dryer (MDE5500)?

There are two clips about one inch in from either side of the lid push them in with a flat tip screw driver and lift the lid.
the there are two screws on the inside of the panel that need to come out then remove the front panel. and you will see the other items that need to be removed to get your belt replaced.

How do replace the belt on a maytag dryer

It depends on if its a newer model or not. If its not a newer model (usually with the controls on the front). Most of the time there are two clips under the lid in the front, take a putty knife or flat end screwdriver and push in on the clamps. Use flashlight to check to make sure the clips are the because without knowing which model it is its hard to know if they will be there. Pop up the lid and off to the left and right you will see 1 screw phillips or a 1/4 inch nut on each side. Than tilt the front panel back and lift up because it is on hinges. The drum may fall forward. Wrap the belt around the drum and around the pulley and motor shaft. If this is a true maytag than putting the belt on will confuse you because the belt has to go around the pulley backwards. If you get stuck please contact me.

Need directions how to replace a dryer belt for a maytag dryer

Using a flat blade, putty knife on the left and right sides between the top and front there are 2 spring clips holding the top down. Push 1 side in at a time while lifting. Once both are popped free the lid will raise and set back for you. The you will see 1 screw on each side holding the front panel to the cabinet. Remove these screws and the front will lift away giving access to the belt. Remember all dryer belts are done from the front. Hope this helps and good luck.

Install dyer belt MAYTAG

Hello there
Here is a detailed instruction for you ok
  1. Remove the two screws that hold the control console to the dryer; they are located on each end of the console. Turn the control console forward onto its face. Disconnect the wiring harness from the dryer to the console. Press in on the locking tab and pull the connectors apart. Set the control panel out of your work area. To remove the top, insert a putty knife between the front and top panels. Locate the retaining clip and push in on it to release the corner of the top panel. Lift up on the corner and release the opposite retaining clip. Set the top panel out of the way. Two screws that attach the front panel to the sides are located at the top corners. Remove the screws and swing the top of the front panel out so that you can access the door switch wiring harness. Disconnect the wiring harness from the door switch and lift the front panel away from the dryer.
  2. Replace the Belt
  3. Locate the idler pulley by reaching behind the drum and motor assembly. Using your hand, push the idler pulley to the left to release tension on the belt2.gif. Notice the routing of the belt around the motor and idler arm for reference when attaching the new belt. Remove the belt from the motor pulley. Lift up on the drum slightly and remove the belt from the drum.

With the rib side pointed inward, lift the drum up and set the belt around the drum. Route the belt through the motor pulley and idler pulley. Pull the idler pulley to the right to reapply tension to the belt. ok?
  4. not too hard
  5. hope this is verry helpful for you
  6. Best regards MIke

How to replace dryer belt

Remove the filter from the top>
Remove the 2 phillips screws from the top (filter housing)
Use a putty knife to pop the top by compressing the clips
on either side of the top between the front and top.
NOTE: Once the top is up remove the screws inside
to get the front off and LIFT the front up
before pulling towards you so the bottom clips
won't break.Get the lid switch disconnected and set the front aside.
Oil the rollers and idler, vacuum out the lint.
The new belt goes rib side down on the tub. The idler mounts like the one pictured
