Question about HP Pavilion a1710n (RK573AA#ABA) PC Desktop
Hello everyone: I am really tired of trying to find out what the main problem to my pc is. I have a Pavilion a1710n desktop computer. Many times I noticed that the computer would dim down the overall image goes darker and the drop down menus go grey. I have windows vista, and when i first got the coputer the drop down menus were white. Overall the computer would dim after it went to sleep but if I shut down and restart it is vivid beautiful and bright again. So I got the update HP has for my BIOS and now it stays dim and well it gets more dim when it goes to sleep. I am under warranty but HP has not solved the problem, they promise to fix and nothing, they have done troubleshooting and told me its my motherboard and they want to replace it, however 2 times Ive sent it in and they havent done nothing they just send it back to me the same way. Please if there is someone that knows what to do let me know ASAP I appreciate it.
1. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop and select ATI Catalyst Control Center.
2. Select the "Color" tab on the left.
3. Press the big "Reactivate ATI color controls" button on the right.

Maybe your monitor or graphics card is going bad. Sounds like something is getting hot.

If he dimming part is instant your video card is almost dead... but if it happen slowly it is dying.... check if all fans of your pc specially the vc's and the processors are working fine.. dying vc's mostly from the heat it produce due to dead fans of speed of the air it deliver is not appropriate to maintain coolness.
if it is a built in video adapter 100% motherboard problems.... grounding and ventilation should be always considered...
rank me if this helps ok...
