Remote control via RI terminal on Onkyo Receiver

Hi,
I have a Onkyo TX-SR701 receiver and DV-SP800 DVD player but I am having problem to control the dvd player via the RI remote control ports with supplied RI cable. The DVD player does not respond any commands from my receiver remote control (RC-533M), it's configured with No. 600 (factory default per manual) in DVD mode.
When I press any button in DVD mode on the RC-533M, the receiver Standby light is blink but nothing happen to the dvd player.

I just purchased a Onkyo receiver and cd/dvd player. Although the instructions say I can use a cable to connect the units and then use one remote, no cable came with the units and I'm not sure what type of cable to buy.

I just purchased a Onkyo receiver TX-SR304 and a cd/dvd player (DX-C390). Although the instructions say I can use a cable to connect the units and then use one remote, no cable came with the units and I'm not sure what type of cable to buy. Thanks or any help you can provide.

Not sure I can solve, but maybe help. I am having a similiar problem. However, make sure you Analog Audio (RCA type) cable are connected even if using Digital connection between the two. They use those cable to send the Commands (Mentioned in the documentation).
If you did get yours to work, please give me a hint... I upgraded mine from a 603 to a 701 and haven't been able to get it to work since.

I hope you get an answer. There must be dozens of us out here who have the same question' How does one get to have remote control through something described in the specs as "RI protocol compatibility for wired remote control". On the verge of 2011 and no answer yet.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

7.1 would have Surround Back L and R.

6.1 would have just one back there (SB). It defaults to the Left output on the Pre-Outs if you ever go that route.

This being a 6.1 receiver it does not support two SB channels BUT you can configure those amp channels for a separate Zone supporting 2 speakers. Confused?

The manual shows a single SB speaker connected to the left side on Page 27. THAT would be consistent with a 6.1 configuration.

How to program remote control?

Your Onkyo TX-SR304 receivers remote (RC-645S) is not capable of controlling devices by other manufacturers. It controls only Onkyo devices.
Other Onkyo remotes do have universal remote functionality and you can download Onkyo remote codes here.

I hope that helps.

Onkyo TX-SR701 Digital audio port stopped working

you may want to try a factory reset by pressing and holding vcr1 button while pressing the power button. do this with the unit on. It will reset back to factory default. so any saved setting will be lost and you will have to set again to your settings.
