The clutch system has a worn out bearing. You will have to have a Dyson dealer or warranty center replace it for you.

When turning vacuum on it screams... when you just use the wand it quits.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 Animal. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. This is also likely to be the cause of the noise you can hear. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the guide linked below. The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 24 hours.

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=622&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Jack

My daughter plugged my 110 volts dyson dc14 into a 220 volts outlet. It no longer works - can it be repaired?

After checking with Dyson, it appears it can be fixed but depending on the age, it might be more cost effective to just buy a new one. There are not a lot to the dyson vaccums to repair. Plugging the vac into double the voltage would have fried the motor and that will need to be replaced. There is not reset or surge protector. With shipping and replacement of the motor, we would recommend a new vac. Good luck and sorry!

How do i fit new carbon brushers to dyson dc14

It will be a pointless exercise Ron. By the time the brushes on a YDK DC14 motor have gone, so has the armature. You need to replace the motor. You can get a new motor here: Dyson DC14 new motor.
Also, be sure you change the filters; one of which is washable.

I think the motor has stopped. Can I have a new motor installed?

Yes, call Dyson and they do fixed price repairs.
Alternatively, if you're good at DIY, have a look at www.dysonmedic.com.
New motors can be found on eBay for about £25.
