Most likely you have too many files in the root directory. if you already have a previously created folder you could copy everything to a folder and then from now on copy mp3's into another directory. Here is a link that also explains the problem as well.
It if fairly common. Worse case scenario. Copy everything off of it. Then either create a folder to save things into or format it then create a folder so you are not filling up the root directory.
