Hello Gerard, Typically the reason for no roation of the Dryer drum is due to a broken drive belt.

If you pop the top off the dryer, you will be able to see if the belt is still intact and hasn't been broken.

To remove the top of the dryer, simply use a small thin metal or plastic putty knive and about two inches in from the sides, slip it in between the top edge and the base cabinet to depress the retaining clips that hols the top onto the cabinet.

Do this on both sides and you'll be able to lift the top up and see the belt going around the drum. Make sure you unplug the dryer from the wall outlet first, to prevent accidentially starting the dryer when you lift the top (no sense getting your fingers jammed should the start button get engaged, etc.)

If you can remove or easily move the belt, then it will need to be replaced. You can go to www.searspartsdirect.com and enter in the full model number of your dryer and get exploded view drawings and parts lists for your particular model.

To replace the belt, you'll have to remove the back access panel and thread the belt up and around the drum, removing the front door panel (I find that loosening it is usually enough) so you can slip the belt onto the dryer drum.

Then you just need to get te belt onto the motor pulley and put everything back together and you'll be all set with a working dryer again.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Hotpoint condenser tumble dryer model tdc30p belt replacement

You will have to unplug the dryer and remove the front panel with the door, mark and remove the wires to the door switch, then there should be two screws on the inside which you will need to remove then tilt the panel out and lift to disengage the tabs connecting it to the main cabinet. Then you should be able to remove the old belt, carefully lift the drum and slide the new belt under it. Then this is where you will need to be a contortionist and take care as there are many sharp edges under there. Locate the motor and tensioner pulley, place the belt around the tensioner and while pushing back against the spring on the tensioner hook the belt to the motor pulley, then move belt on drum so it is aligned with lower pulleys. Turn the drum by hand a couple of times to make sure everything works.

Hotpoint Drum does not turn

Hi,
The most common problem is with the belt drive.
Try this test. - Open the door, rotate drum by hand - is it free to rotate without any noise of driving the motor around? - If it is - order a new belt for it.
If you can hear the motor turning, try running the machine again. If movement is erratic - you need replacement motor brushes.
If you think the motor is dead, it may be - or there may be a fault on the control board. Both need testing to see. Usually one will need replacement.

Have a hotpoint tdc30p dryer that will not heat

Check to see if the new parts fitted are o/k,
If they are, then your problem is probably a faulty control unit or possibly bad connection in the wiring.
If the new parts are faulty, then something else is causing them to fail.
Make sure all filters are clean and that all air vents are clear

No heat

hi there
your problem is either the t-stats have blown which is very common or your heater is blown..

im guessin your t-stats beacuse they are the most common on hotpoint dryers to blow. There always blowing

They located at the back of the dryer behind the protuding panel so there for you dont need to open it all up just that panel.

To check if their blown check for continuity,, no continuity no good merry christmas cheers
