Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S2000 46 in. LCD HDTV

LCD Screen goes dark

Just got a LCD flat panel and hooked it up to use with my DirecTv until the install and wall mount was completed next week. After a few hours the screen went black, no sound, and the remote would not work except for the power button. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Get a replcaement tv unless doing a reset fixes the issue.

Fault to the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

When I cleaned the front of my flat screen tv I wiped the cloth over the controls on the front of the flat screen. The TV turned itself off and won't come on again.
my be the control buttons are pressed hard by your strong hands and not released yet ?

Can you give me some advice on, how to mount a 46in tv above my non working fireplace mantle?
You would have to use a mounting bracket specifically designed for the type of installation you describe and it certainly would have to be fastened into the studs behind the sheetrock. A TV of that size will be heavy to lift and install in the bracket

With newer thinner designs, LCD and Plasma HDTV's are ideal for wallmounting. Wall mounting your television frees up space and adds a new elementof aesthetic appeal to your home theater. Positioning Before getting into any hardware mounting,find the best possible position to mount your television. Because wall mountingan HDTV is more of a permanent solution, careful planning is needed whenintegrating the television into your home design.
Furniture placement, overall themes, viewing angles, and the best audiopositioning are all factors that will help determine the placement of the LCDor Plasma TV.
Once you have decided the general positioning of the wall mount installation,cut out a piece of cardboard or wrapping paper in proportion the of theflat panel television. Next, approximate the placement by taping the piece ofcardboard or wrapping paper to the wall where the TV will be placed and mark itwith a pencil.
Preparing the TV Removethe stand from the television and lay the TV on its face. Locate the fourmounting holes on the back of the television and remove the bolts. Next, removethe mounting arms or mounting plate from the wall mount packaging.
To attach mounting arms, line up the arms vertically and parallel to each otherusing the mounting holes on the back of the television. Make sure that they arein perfect alignment and bolt the arms using the bolts and washer supplied withthe wall mount.
If you are using a mounting plate, simply line up the holes with the mountingholes on the television. Secure the mounting plate with the bolts and washersincluded with your wall mount.
Preparing the Wall Locatethe studs closest to the desired position using a stud finder and mark themwith a pencil. Remove the wall mount from the package. Line up the wall mountup to the studs within the center of the marked position you determinedearlier. If it is not perfectly centered, wall mounts can be adjustedhorizontally at a later time.
Using a level, line up the wall mount and mark the positioning of where hebolts will go. Drill holes into the stud about 1" deep, drill bit depends on the of bolts supplied with the wall mount. Bolt the wall mountto the wall with bolts and washers, but don't tighten down the boltscompletely. Adjust the position of the wall mount left or right to center it toyour desired position. When you are done, tighten the bolts the rest of theway. Mounting the Television Attachingthe television to the wall mount takes two people. Simply lift the televisionand hook it to the wall mount. At this point you can further adjust thepositioning horizontally to center it perfectly. Once the desired position isacquired, tighten down the screws that attach the mounting arms or plate to thewall mount.

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.
I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

Dark Screen and flickering black screen
I am having the same problem and I think it is the bulb in the TV or the board that the bulb is on. Only had mine for 4 weeks!! Apparently this is a common problem with LG TV's that occur as often as 3 times a year with a minimum cost of £290 just for the bulb!! Wish I had known that before I bought it!

Would recommended contacting the store you bought if from and ask them to repair it seeing as it is so new, I am awaiting the engineer at present!

This set has a modification that needs to be done. It will also start turning on by itself and changing channels rapidly. It's two weeks old. Take it back to the Retailer or if that is not an option contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 to get a local servicer in your area.
