Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My son's Sony Walkman MP3 player went through the washing machine a few days ago. Now it will not turn on, but I'm still able to attach to the computer and see how much space he has left, his music, and pictures. What can I do to make it play again? I've tried the reset button, and that doesn't work.

Try putting it in a bag of uncooked rice, and in the refrigerator for a day or two.

I don't know why or how this works, but I picked up the trick while working at Radio Shack.

theres a slim possability if it was turned off when it went in and if you left it out to dry for a couple of days or a week before you even thought about trying to turn it on maybe it will work

My walkman is dead

shops don't give warranty on mp3 players more than 2yrs max. and even if it still were in warranty, the warranty would've been void when the player got washed and tumble-dried.

try removing the batteries, letting it dry for a few days and using new batteries afterwards. if this doesn't work, the mp3-player is done for...

DO NOT TURN it on
remove the battery if possible
put in sun or warm place for a few hours until dry.
reinsert battery and try again.

also works with coffee in laptops...

Sony Walkman - Digital Music Player NWD-B105F

I had the exact same problem with my girlfriends sony nwd-b105 mp3 player. I fixed it by downloading the firmware version 1.2, which can be found here at the sony support link below.

http://support.sony-europe.com/dna/wm/nwf/nwf.aspx?site=&m=NWD-B105&site=odw_en_GB&odw_model=NWD-B105

- Backup your mp3 files
- Make sure your mp3 device is NOT plugged in
- Run the firmware executable
- When it asks for it plug in the mp3 device
- Check option: format data area
- Press Start
- When finished, take the mp3 device out and press the power button
- If everything went well it is creating a database again and will function correctly as usual
- Copy your mp3 files back to the mp3 device
- Enjoy your music again!
