D-Link Air Plus DP-G310 Print Server

Wireless laptop not printing

posted by PatsToWinAll on Jan 20, 2008

I set up a D-Link DP-G310 print server to my HP 6310 All-in-One printer on my desktop PC. I have the Cat 5 going from the 6310 to a router and the DP-G310 connected to the same router (also a D-Link). My USB cable is connected from the HP 6310 to the DP-G310.I can print with this configuration from my desktop. So I have set up the same printer on my laptop with the same IP address for the print server. Despite several attempts to reinstall and try changing some settings I cannot get my wireless HP laptop to print to the HP 6310 printer. Did I miss a step??

Frustrated in NC.

Yes it does. So does that mean I don't need the print server? Do I need to do anything to the laptop to make the connection to the printer?

I am confused about your printer connections. Does your HP 6310 already have an integrated network port?

Indeed, you don't need the print server. Since your HP 6310 already has an integrated network port, you may setup and use it on your laptop the same way you do with your desktop. If you can browse the Internet wirelessly with your laptop, you should also be able to print.
