Question about Dell InspironTM 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

Dell inspiron 1501 will not power up

I was given a laptop and was told that it worked other than the dvd drive would open at times on its on and the battery was dead but it will work off of the ac adapter. When i got it home and plugged it in it will not power up. The light on the laptop where you plug in the ac adapter will start green for about a minute then starts to flash amber and green. If i push the power button you can hear the fan start to run and the light on the dvd drive flashes but nothing appears on the screen. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Please find a way of getting a replacement power pack and a new battery that is all you need to get the laptop working.

About the dvd drive, it is only a program control fault. You will need the system restore disc to restore to factory setting. I experienced it once on my HP Laptop and that was the solution recommended to me for $70.

Good luck.

My dell inspiron 1525 dvd drive not working. support centr guys told me, it was lens problem. Plz tell is there any to fix the lens. And, how much it would be for replaceing lens.

Open Device Manager from Control Panel for any error messages related to the device.

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives and download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Dell website & install it.

Also check on Dell website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Dell Inspiron 1501, died and will not restart

Try to remove the battery and unplug the power supply, then hold down the power button for about 10 seconds. If this doesn't work, it could be that the laptop overheated while watching the DVD.

Hi,
Try going to the drive, in my computer ** should be named CD/DVD Or D: E: right click and press eject. Alternatively:-
if you look carefully at the dvd drive, it has a small pinhole in the front drawer. push a paper-clip sized piece of metal, or small jewellers screwdriver into the hole, this will force the drawer open.
