If it's got xpl, try pressing F8 when it's starting up and if a window pops up then you know that it's freezing when it's busy booting.

It says no boot device

>Do you have an operating system installed on that drive? If you have an operating system installed on that drive and are trying to boot from that drive, check and see if your BIOS will allow that. Many will not. The beeping is not coming from the external drive, it is coming from your computer's system beeper. Usually those beeps are in a pattern that is a code for what the problem is. Check your computer manual booklet.

My hard drive will no longer come up on my laptop

You can try this:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3567552-resolving_intermittent_windows_usb_devic
if no change, reboot into the safe mode (F8 at boot) and see if the drive detects.
If still no go, thy this tool:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/
if still not detected see if the drive functions on a different system, if it doesn't then the drive is suspect

HI... Can I clone my internal drive (which is just about full) to my Iomega 1TB external drive...? Thanks

http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm this program will allow you to clone your hard drive directly to your external, you can then expand the partition using 'disk management' which can be found typing it into the 'run' window from the start menu. this will erase the external drive however and i wouldnt recommend booting from it externally.

Bought a new network hard drive 1tb iomega. Operating system requirements is XP. Saleman said it would update on line & work with windows 7. doesnot happen for me . Is it compatible or not? CD will not...

The drive will not update itself automatically. You will have to download the firmware update and update it yourself. You may also want to get the latest Manager software that is Windows 7 compatible.

Firmware Version 2.064: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=21149

Why will my HP computer not start with my iomega external hard dive connected?

Maybe the system is experienceing a hardware conflict or maybe your boot priority is set to to USB first and fixed drive second. Also does your external drive work OK when connected to computer after it has booted up properly?

My iomega 500gb external hard drive has a broken.

My Iomega (33654) 500GB USB isn't working. When I turn it on the blue light comes on for a few seconds. I can hear / feel it working but then the light goes off (it is still whirring inside). The computer isn't recognising it. I think it's still under guarantee but I can't find the paperwork. Do you have any ideas?
