This is caused by a leaking cylinder head gasket or air in the sytem, if u did not bleed the cooling system follow this procedure, it is generic for all cars.
The generic method of bleeding air from the cooling system is to use a floor jack and raise the front of the car as high as poss, then fill the coolant recovery tank full and run the engine until it just starts to overheat, high end of normal zone on gauge, then shut the engine down and run cold water over the radiator core, this will self bleed the system and the coolant will be pulled from the recovery tank, repeat as necessary, never let the recovery tank run dry or more air will be pulled into the cooling systeml , if it still overheats then you need to have the head gaskets checked with a gas analyzer for hydrocarbons present in the radiator or recovery tank

Dennis, I have the same problem on my 94 GSR motor. I do have one corner of the head gasket that seeps oil. Can this be the cause. I changed the thermostat and fan sensor. But I still run hot.

I have a 2000 Acura 3.5rl changes the thermostat and now it's over heating.its boiling I g the over flow and the top hose has no pressure and the doesn't have pressure

indicates that the thermostat was installed incorrectly and is not getting hot water to the bulb to open it
the body of the thermostat has to face the head or block water and not face into the hose

Overheating

Check for exhaust fumes in overflow bottle and radiator which would indicate a blown head gasket

1991 acura legend starts to over heat and the top hose is hot but bottom hose isn't but the overflow bottle is bubbling.what's the solution?

If the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is cold than there is a flow issue. I'm guessing you replaced the thermostat to try and resolve this issue and you bled all the air out of the cooling system? If this is tru than I would suspect the water pump is bad. Possibly the impeller has come off from the shaft? The water pump is timing belt driven.

1997 acura integra overheating when I get on it runs good when driving and shifting at 2Gs but if I shift at 3gs it jumps all the way to hot have changed the thermostat and bottom hose still cold while top...

if the the lower hose is cold and it runs hot then that tells me its not circulating.also there had to be a problem before if the fans are wired to come on when car is first started, may have a bad waterpump or exhaust is getting into cooling system, have a block test done to see if there a bad head gasket first before you continue, good luck hope this helps.

Heating problem

If you changed the thermostat yourself and have noted that the lower radiator hose is cooler than the upper radiator hose, you may have installed the thermostat incorrectly or have purchased a faulty thermostat. A lower radiator hose that does not get hot (or as hot as the upper radiator hose) is a direct indication of a faulty thermostat. Please vote for this solution if you found this to be helpful. most likely, the thermostat needs to be replaced.

if that doesn't fix it, check the water pump
