Question about AEG Washing Machines

Open Question

About 6 months ago the washing machine (AEG 74630 update)would give errorcode E40 at the end of the cycle and the door would not open until the machine was switched off, left for 5 minutes and switched on again. Then it sorted itself out, but the last few weeks it is doing it again. Today I switched the machine on and although all the lights and the clock / timer came on, the machine was dead, didn't do anything. The door indicator light went off, which usually stays green until the machine is full with water and I also couldn't open the door when turning the programme off. I had to switch it off, wait 5 minutes, switch it on and only then could open the door, but even this had to be repeated several times. It did not give the E40 fault code, but the symptoms were the same, but now with the addition that the machine wouldn't start the programme. Am I right in thinking it's brain got a bit scrambled?

Try checking the water level, and level switch? Is the outlet hose high enough of the floor? If you tip the machine back you should see one or two clear plastic tubes, take one end of these and blow through them and the do it the other way round.

SOURCE: TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

Could be a fuel pump that is going bad. Some times when fuel pumps go bad they cavitate and pump not just gas but also air. If you get too much air in the line and not enough gas the car won't start. Have a mechanic check your fuel line pressure.

SOURCE: AEG 74630 washing Machine stopped working, will

I have same problem right now. The machine works fine up to the stage where it needs to pump out. the pump was dead. Have replaced the pump, but still not working and it's probably the PCB that needs replacing - expensive but will buy reconditioned for about £50.

Pump available for the machine on Ebay and easy to replace. Take of machine back panel - make sure machine off and unplugged. Pump has 3 screws holding it in - then just replace. Easy. Good luck

When I switch on my washing machine AEG Lavamat turbo 16800 it displays E40

HI Mike.
THIS IS ALL I COULD FIND OUT.
E40 relates to the door being left open when the programme is started, it maybe that the latch was not pushed over when the door was shut.
to solve the problem get another switch.
hope this helps you.
or read up some more at this link.

AEG Lavamat washing machine model 76850, shows a blinking key and makes clicks and after that shows E40. Thanks John

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
I suggest rapid reading alarm code when appliance is in normal operating mode (e.g. during the execution of the washing
programme):
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and any of the option buttons for at least two seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the alarm.
The alarm sequence continues as long as the two buttons are held down.
E41 - Door open
E42 - Problems of door closure
E43 - Interlock power supply triac faulty
E44 - Door interlock sensing circuit faulty
E45 - Door interlock sensing circuit triac faulty

Possible causes:
Door interlock faulty, wiring faulty or PCB faulty.

Turned off mid cycle. Tried putting back onfor drain, also rinse and restart. Each time get error E40.

Hi.

With AEG washers E40 means defective door lock. Since a faulty door lock switch may go out with vibration you often do not get the error all the time. The door lock switch must be tested and eventually replaced. Call the AEG number listed in the user manual if you want to get in touch with an authorized technician or if you need replacement parts for your washing machine.

AEG washing machine error code e40

E40 relates to the door being left open when the programme is started, it maybe that the latch was not pushed over when the door was shut. After the door is closed again the fault should go away. If it does not and you hear alot of clicking from the door lock you may just have a door lock at fault.Code E40 is door not closed, could be a mis-aligned door or faulty door switch.-------------But if door is closing properly and you are confirmed that door is getting properly locked, then other possibility can be gunked filter or blocked drain pump.It requires cleaning internally. The procedure is as follows:--- Towards the bottom right of the machine is a pull-down flap.
Drain the machine - there's a tube at the bottom of the machine
with a plastic plug - you'll see a butterfly handle, pull hard; the plug
is a round ball on the end of a stick.
Unscrew the large diameter thing (pump cover) -
Don't do this before the drain step!!!
Withdraw the filter cylinder and remove any gunge - the
filter port has two ports - the left one is the impellor
pump and the right one is the discharge pipe; feel to ensure
these are not gunged up either.
Reassemble in reverse order - as Haynes say.
Almost every programme necessitates a pump activation to
assure that the machine is empty of water .-----------
