Question about Directed 473T Remote Control

Valet 473T remote

Bought car with this remote in it. You can lock and unlock car, push car start button. Car will try to start 3 times, without success. The dealer replaced the car battery, would this have kicked out the command to start the car, or is it maybe in a service mode so when they did work on it the car wouldn't start accidental.

Remote starter will not start since battery was disconnected. It will attempt to start but will not.

I have an aftermarket remote starter, I had put on by Ziebart's. My battery died, and I had to have a new one put in. Now Ziebart's says, since I unhooked the battery the starter had to be reset. But they want to charge me $50.00 to reset my starter. I would like to know if anyone knows how to do this, as my doors will not lock and unlock with the remoter starter either.

same problem with my 1999 Ford Escort ZX. I don't care about the keyless entry - just the remote start capability.

Tootsie2, can you post the year/make/model of your vehicle?
It's not in a service mode - on Valet products that feature is activated with a toggle switch and the remote start will not even try to start the car.

It sounds like the system needs tach sensor reprogramming. The remote start system may have a tachometer sensing mode where the system "knows" that the car is running and to stop cranking the starter when when the engine is running. Generally when the vehicles battery is disconnected the system "forgets" the setting of the tachometer at idle which is programmed at the time if installation. Take it to a remote start installation store for this or get a hold of a maual for your system and shouldnt be too dificult to program.

How to reprogram Python 4Button Remote 474P ?

I had the exact same thing happen with my 4-button 474p remote. WITHOUT REMOTE START the correct sequence is:

1. Enter car - Leave door open.

2. Turn key to "on" position.

3. Within 5 (five) seconds press the Valet button 7 times then hold down. (Programs to channel 7)

4. Watch alarm light - It should now flash 7 times.

5. While still holding down the Valet button - Press the "lock" button on the remote and release. Should get a "chirp"

6. Now release and repress the Valet button once, holding down. You'll get the "chirp". Release Valet button.

7. Turn key "off". Exit vehicle and test remote. All 4 buttons should now work.

I bought my car used with an aftermarket prestige alarm w/ remote start. Battery and alternator went bad. They have been replaced. The car will not turn on and alarm remote is not working.

Locate a black push button switch under the dash or near the drivers side kick panel (older model), or the alarm has a push button LED light(newer model) or the Valet switch is in the antenna(newest model). Turn the ignition on, press and release the switch one time. This should disarm the alarm.

For programming: turn ignition on, press and release the valet switch three times: you will hear one chirp from the alarm, press the lock button on the remote. Press and release the valet one time, you will hear two chirps from the alarm, press the unlock button on the remote. Repeat as necessary. Turn igniton off to exit programming. Test remote for proper functioning.

Disable viper alarm

Yes the best way is disarm the alarm and put in a Valet Mode
To activate the Valet Mode do the following:

There is a push button or toggle switch to disable the alarm (to engage the valet mode). Without knowing where this
switch is you won't be able to disconnect the alarm.

1. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position.
2. Flip the toggle or hold the push button for at least 5 seconds.
3. The LED. light will stay solid on.
4. Turn the ignition off
5. Release the push button. If you have a toggle leave it alone in step 2
