The Garmin Map60csx does not show ANY satellite reception, so cannot show where you are. The compass still works tho'

The GPS60csx has option for alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries. I've replaced the batteries, but am not getting any bars at all for satellite strength, even though it is in the backyard with 75% sky available. Not a single satellite, but the display of satellites available seems to be current, and the correct date and time are there.

The compass is independent of the GPS locating feature which requires at least 4 satellite's be locked onto to provide location on the earth information, the only possibilities are one a weak battery that is failing due to age (they last about two years) or the GPS's receiver is defective or u are in an area that has obstructions that are blocking the satellite signal. that is about it. The battery will need to be replaced by a Garmin service center, it is not user replaceable.

then the GPS is defective, was basing my advice about the batteries on current models, very Gamin's have owner replaceable batteries, you locked on that and decided to not accept my advice about the receiver which is the most likely problem. Good luck.

Hello. I recommend that you reset your Garmin. Using your fingernail, carefully pry the frame off from around the screen. Under the frame you will see the reset button. Push that button in to reset your GPS. Then turn on and run it through it's paces. It should now pick up the satellite signal.. If by chance it still does not work you will have to send it in for repair. Do not attempt an internal repair yourself as this will void your warranty. Regards, Joe.

When I am in heavy timber and not moving at a good pace my compass points in the opposite direction it is supposed to. What am I doing wrong? When I walk down the road it works perfectly.

The Garmin 12 GPS loses sattelite reception in heavy woods and that's why it doesn't work properly. It's not a fault and you're not doing anything wrong. All Garmin 12s are the same.

If the option of working without GPS receiver enabled is turned off, then it may be a real damage.

Only thing is to check this option.

Garmin's KNA-G510 won't find satellites unless I tell it I'm in another state and it expands satellite search

I have the g510 with a kenwood head unit. On the satellite screen, on the left it only shows one satellite and on the right it is showing that there are upwards of six or so satellites that it is receiving reception from. I thought it might be the antenna, so I bought a new one. Still having the same problem. It cannot find my location. I've updated the software, I don't know what to do!!
