Question about Washing Machines
you are right the faulty control board causes this issue.
But initially check this:--remove the hotpoint washing machine top and the control board cover from the door, check if the wiring cables are damaged as they are run through the door hinge .maybe one of the wires are loose that enters in the terminal plug, if yes then reconnect the wire and test.
