Dryer would not shut off. Removed vent pipe and cleaned it. Plugged it back in and now the dryer runs but the gas does not start burning.

Dryer starts, removed panel and saw no evidence of the starter glowing and no gas flowing. Where is the thermostat located, how do I check it, how do I remove it, where do I get a new one? Thanks

Hi
There are couples of things you need to verify. Check the igniter underneath the drum. In order to see it please open the panel. Ideally it should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the igniter shuts off. Suppose if you see that the igniter is not glowing then the issue is with the thermostat. If the igniter is glowing but the gas does not light then the gas valve coils may have to be replaced. But suppose if the gas ignites but does not stay on then the flame sensor or the coils need to be replaced. Let us know if you need further clarification.

I get a t0 error code and the dryer stops after a minute or less. This code is for clogged vent but I've completely cleaned out the vent and washed and dried the screen.

There is a vent pipe that runs from the lint trap to the back of the dryer. There is also a sensor on that pipe that supposed to shut the dryer down if there isn't proper air flow. You might want to take the back off and clean out that pipe. Also when I disassembled mine I found an incredible amount of lint inside the case. I try to get in there and vacuum it out once a year now.

Gas lights up for about 5 minutes and then burns out. Try to turn on dryer again, but flame won't light. I let dryer sit for aout 30 minutes and turn on again - flame starts up, but will only last...

If the flame is shutting of before it reaches the operating temperatures the likely failure is a restricted venting system. There is a high limit thermostat that will cause the flame to shut off if there is a lack of airflow due to a restriction in the vent system. Remove the lint filter screen and clean in with soap and water. The filter may appear clean but it could have a clear film of fabric softener residue covering it causing a restriction in the air flow too. After cleaning the filter reinstall it before running the next test.

For testing purposes only, disconnect the dryer vent hose from the back of the dryer and put a normal load of clothes in the dryer and start the dryer. If the clothes dry in the normal amount of time that would confirm a restriction in the vent hose or the venting system. NOTE: Do not leave the vent hose disconnected after running the test. Reconnect the vent hose.

You will likely find the clothes drying in the normal amount of time indicating a restriction in the venting.

Dryer keeps saying check filter - lint screen is clean-dryer won't run

Had the same problem. Filter was clean. Vacuumed out the area under the filter. Still had problem. Unplugged the dryer. Removed the hose vent (back of dryer) and checked the exhaust -- all clean. Plugged the dryer back in and was fine. Still going to check the vent to the outside for lint buildup.

Clothes dryer is overheating and then shuts off

Your vent pipe is probably clogged with lint. Clean out, and blow out, if possible, If the vent is clogged, the air cannot properly escape and all that heat stays in the dryer, which probably sets off some kind of themal protection switch, preventing the dryer from running until it cools down.

I have a kenmore series 70 dryer (model # 78702894) gas dryer that is running but no heat. How safe is it for me to disconnect the gas line so I can remove the rear panel?

I am having a similar problem (I get heat for about 7 minutes then it stops heating) and just removed the back housing.  I did not have to disconnect the gas line to do this.  Just removed several screws. If your model is constructed differently and the gas line has to be disconnected, make sure you turn the gas off at the shut off switch back at the gas pipe.
Reading on your issue suggests to start by cleaning out all vent hoses to clear any lint obstructions.  I would start there and see if things improved then proceed to removing the back housing to get at the stuff in there.

DRYER SHUTTING OFF BEFORE CLOTHES ARE DRY

What you obviously have is a blocked filter housing. Get it off and wash it down. Clean out the dryer and open the vent.

LG Gas dryer doesn't dry clothes in one cycle

Have you checked your outside vent while it was running to see if the dryer was venting 100%. If your clothes are hot and humid I would say clean your vent pipe has a blockage and needs to be cleaned out. Also as far as the burning smell you could take the front off (unplug first) the dryer of by removing 4 screws one above and one below the latch and two at the bottom and there are two clips one at the top left and right push in with a puddy knife and lift the top up a couple inches and lift the front up off the bottom holders. Then you will have access to vacuuming the lint that is floating around the burner.

Dryer is getting hot but clothes are not drying

You have a vent problem. Eliminate all (if possible) flex duct (replacing with ridged aluminum pipe and aluminum elbows). Clean lint out of remaining vent pipe. Make sure vent is not crushed or obstructed, especially behind the dryer. If possible, make sure outside vent termination is not a two inch opening. (you want a full 4 inches)
