Question about HP Pavilion m7480n (882780389410) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Will not boot up. Get Bios Rom Checksum error, Keyboard error or no keyboard present. Manually shut down and turned on literally 30 times this morning before it would boot up. Then after a couple of hours when I wasn't in the room, it must have shut itself down, then wouldn't reboot, got same Bios error over and over again. What is wrong.

Most times a checksum error refers to the cmos battery. you may want to replace the battery and see if that helps. However this can also be a symptom caused by a bad power supply or a faulty board. Make sure you check your motherboard's capacitors for swelling or leaking.

hope this helps.

Compaq Presario 2500 stopped loading windows XP with a prompt STOP: c0000221 {bad Image Checksum} The image COMCTL32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

This error is not the same as a CMOS Checksum Error, which refers to corrupted values of the CMOS settings, the ones you set through the BIOS setup program. This error means the contents of the BIOS code itself are damaged.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
click start control panel date and time you can make your adjustments to the date and time from there also right click on the date and time on the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) you should see Adjust date and time tab
hope this helps you

Do you get video? If so then it could be a stuck key on the keyboard.

Bios check sum error

this is a common problem wirth asus motherboards the only thing is to re set the bios to do this romove the power plug from pc wait for 30 second - 1 minute for the static to be removed from board then find the bios battery and remove this then find the jumper that says clr cymos or bios then place the jumper on the opposite two then press on button then place jumper bace to orraginal possition then place the power cord back to tower psu then reboot pc then all will be fine replace battery in the holder enter bios then hunt for all relevent thing like first boot should be hdd then cdrom then floppy drive this is only if you have got one.

to set-up bios properly please e-mail me with your motherboard details and I'll e-mail you back with a list of things you should do to get the bios back to good working order.

Unplug mains from wall
remove lid
find CMOS reset jumper (usually 3 pins with a jumper/link on two of them near the button cell battery on the mainboard).
Move jumper to other position, then move jumper back again to original position.
fit lid and connect mains supply and switch on.

If you can go into the BIOS, set Defaults and set the date and time, Then try to boot.
If it has been of for a while and time is wrong when ou next boot it, replace the button cell battery on the mainboard.
