Question about Kenmore Dryers

Open Question

My kenmore 80 series dryer, model 66812, has stopped tumbling. I can hold down the start button, and hear the timer mechinism still clicking away the time, but there is no action when I press the start button. I blew out the dust from the back after removing the back top and bottom panels, I checked the connections, and none are off . I know that there is pwr to the unit, but apparently, not to the motor. Can you offer any help?

SOURCE: Kenmore Electric Dryer 66812 clicking not starting

I hate to tell you this, but it is probably the timer. The good news is that it is easy to replace and you don't have to have a tech to do it.

well without a complete accurate model # i can only generalize solutions..
the motor could have gone bad, the door switch could be bad, the timer itself may have gone bad, and on some electric dryers the thermal fuse could also be bad as it is wired into the motor run circuit..
now of course it could be something as simple as a blown breaker that is not strong enough to cause the other lever to trip out so you don't notice it so easily..
best of luck,
hope this helps,

My Kenmore 80 series dryer won't stay on unless I

Aha!
You are going to make me guess!
I am guessing you have to hold the start button down.
So.
Try a new start button first.
If that does not fix it, replace the timer/control unit.
God bless your efforts.

I have a used Kenmore Series 80 dryer & the drum stopped turning

Good day,
Not hard to do but check the 2 rear wheels that support the drum and change at the same time if needed. Inspect the belt tensioner as well.
Here's a good tutorial on the belt change.

Dryer stops but the timer continues on

Fixed! The "push to start" button was stuck. Must have been some dust. I pushed the knob a few times and that's all it took. Works fine now.

Dryer keeps running and timer continues to move around dial.

Change your timer. It has a malfunction in it. it's about a 100 dollar fix. Also your start switch may be bad.
