Easy Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner on Self Cleaning Oven

Our maid sprayed Easy Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner in our Bosch HBN 456 self cleaning double oven. It has been left like this for two days. We cleaned it all out with water before tunring the oven on.

What is the likley damage and if there is damage is there any mitigation?

Thanks.

NO..wont hurt it as loong as you got it all out.. but plz remind her that this is a self cleaning oven....Which does not mean you have to clean it yourself !!! it should be fine.. tell her next time to run it thru a self clean cycle for at least 3.5 hours on the timer setting..

Gary Davd - How do you have the authority to say that using a HEAVY DUTY oven cleaner on a high end self cleaning oven is not going to result in damage to the oven's coating finish and long term consequences of chemical reaction and high heat combination which can corode the crevices and parts which were not designed to be used with oven cleaner? Would you now purchase this appliance ( not being able to use the self clean feature which was part of the initial higher cost ) for the same price as you would without this have been done? I think there are reasons that oven cleaners are not to be used with self clean ovens, the same way that it would not be used on a non stick fry pan or waffle iron. My suggestion is that the manufacturer and professional appliance service be consulted.

She did you a favor, when you use the self clean feature the oven gets up to 1000 degrees, the way most ovens are put together the vents where the heat escapes from is near the clock assy. the heat damages the electronics,i try to tell my customers not to use self clean use easy off if manual says it's ok but they have made easy off so you can use it even in a self cleaning oven or people use baking soda, but from what i've seen i would never self clean an oven, very expensive repair and most people use it like the day before thanksgiving,we get the call,go out and the heat cooked the clock assy. nobody usually has the part it has to be ordered and now they have no oven to use for thanksgiving,so if you want to use self clean do it after the holidays or after any functions or times you have set up or you could be ordering take out.

Allow the oven to cool before running self-clean. Always wipe out loose soils or heavy spillovers before running self-clean. If oven is badly soiled, set oven for the maximum self-clean time.

Here is the manual with "troubleshooting". Hopefully, it will help!

My Bosch double oven timer is not working. No clock, notimer, but the oven is working fine.

Sure this is the failure off the unit but make sure that the step down transformer for the power to the unit is faulty or burnt. If so replace the transformer. If power goes tto unit without display then the processor can be faulty . Change the clock timer. unit if you need the timings.

Easy off ate all enamel off interior of oven

First off i must say that in your owners manuel it clearly states to not use any cleaning products inside the oven..

Second if the cleaner is now completely cleaned off then when put into the bake cycle it could possibly turn the cleaner into a toxic gas. I would not use the oven i would replace it.

Third having the enamel chip off is not a safety concern. it is merely cosmetic. however refer back to number 2.

Cleaning better than self-cleaning

What you have read is correct, the catalytic lining can be damaged by corrosive sprays. It should be safe to use 'Easy Off ' on glass though.

The standard Auto clean cycle is the best method of cleaning that i know of.
