Coffee pot turns stops brewing in the middle of the cycle

My Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee pot is only 1 year old and it is starting to stop brewing in the middle of a cycle. I've tried cleaning all parts that I can, thinking that I've gotten grounds clogged somewhere. Still doing the same thing. I don't have the receipt or box anymore of course and reallllly want it too work! Any solutions to try would be great!
Thank you,
Kim

My Grind and Brew does not complete a brew cycle. I bought it only 2 months ago. I have to push the on/off button about 4 times to get it to brew a whole pot. Very frustrating.

I have the same problem. This coffee maker is a piece of ...junk.

I tried cleaning etc...nothing works. I'm gonna junk it.

I am too experiencing this same problem after only 6 months! How frustrating!!!!! I have tried just about everything I can think of. As of today, I can get no more than 3 cups brewed before the machine becomes possessed and will not stop beeping until unplugged! :( Glad I spent extra on this one.......

I have a similar problem; the water heater turns off after brewing 3 cups. To get the rest of the water through the coffee I turn off the grind cycle and hit the Power button. This gets another 3 cups brewed. After 3 cycles I have a full pot. I doubt cleaning is the issue. It seems that there is a timing circuit either in the computer or in the heater that is malfunctioning. I suspect that it will require a new part to fix it something that is not user serviceable.

Same problem, my Grind and Brew only brews 3 or 4 cups. Sent it in and 4 months later, my second machine is doing the same thing. I did get a new machine for free, after paying $10 shipping and handling for the new machine and paying to have the old machine shipped back. Not sure what to do now that the new one is also not working! They have a real problem. DO NOT throw away your machine, save it for a class action or company return announcement.

this machine is junk! I've tried everything and it still only brews 2 cups at a time.

We recently started having this problem. We first removed the charcoal filter and then put in two cups of straight vinegar in the water well and let is sit for about an hour, then we ran just the vinegar through. After running it through twice, we put in 10 cups of water and repeated with fresh water 3 times. it went through the cycle each time... it seems to be fixed. I have ordered new charcoal filters and I am keeping my fingers crossed that this has resolved the problem...I also plan to clean this machine more often.

  • Siner May 11, 2008

We have the same problem. My machine is only 7 months old.

I changed the filter and that didn't change anything. I next took out the filter and ran two cups of vinegar through the system. Then I ran water through it 3 times. I took someone else's advice and pushed the "1-4 cups" button and it ran through all 10 cups. Go figure. There after it was back to normal.

I think they need to recall these machines and replace them with the new Grind and Brew Plus. Maybe they fixed this problem with the new machine.

    Hope springs eternal.

My coffee pot is 7 months old and I was in love with it until 2 months ago when it stopped brewing in the middle of the cycle. What a pain! Just now I put the coffee on and went online to see if I could find a solution. When I read that some people had luck with pressing the 1-4 cup button, I thought I'd try it, because the machine had beeped and of course only 2 cups had brewed! Ugh. Well I pressed the 1-4 button and PRESTO! it worked!!!!! I cannot say how happy I am. Thank You!!!

Yep Im having the same problem and have had it for about 6 months. I like the thermal pot and the look of the thing so I don't want to go back to a Mr Coffee, but this is getting old. I figured out the 1-4 cup thing and that worked for a while, but now it isnt working either. Replacing the charcoal filter didn't help. I haven't tried cleaning it, so I will give it a shot, but my hunch is it is a computer glitch.

I have the same problem with a Cuisinart, but not the Grind and Brew - just a straight 12 cup auto coffee maker. Cleaning with vinegar and water was no help.

Yup thats the Ticket - EASY FIX -
you have to clean the insides too people... lol.. The best way to do it is to buy citric acid crystals available from your local pharmacy. who knew huh? a couple of tablespoons in distilled water. Brew half the pot and let it sit for 30 min the brew the rest of the pot. Notice the color of your water after your done brewing. probably green from copper.. I could go into much more detail but thats the short answer... brew another pot or two of just plane ole water and bang your good go.. You should do this every month with any coffee pot for better tasting coffee..

I now use a clothes pin to keep the "on" button pushed in. I wedge it in place with my heavy ceramic coffee bean jar. Low tech, annoying, but it works. I'll try de-scaling again but it didn't help before.

This is what I finally figured out about this stupid coffee maker. If I push the button to make 1-4 cups THEN it will brew a whole pot of coffee. How stupid is that? For a month or two it would finish a brew cycle on its own but now the circuits inside of are screwed up and we have to program in to brew 1-4 cups to brew a whole pot. It's like a gremlin got inside of it and switched the wires.
Try that with yours to see if that will work.

Citric acid seems to be a lot better than vinegar (dilute acetic acid) for descaling. I was unable to descale an espresso machine with vinegar. However, the strong solution of citric acid worked very, very well. Citric acid also doesn't have the strong vinegar smell or taste.

We've had the same problem every three or four months.  I believe the cause is hard water deposits clogging things up.  I clean the coffee maker out, change the water filter, and run several rounds of vinegar water through the coffeemaker (this gets rid of calcium deposits), and the maker is good to go for several months.

SOURCE: Coffee pot turns stops brewing in the middle of the cycle

If this is not an electrical problem, try the following:

Try running a cup of WHITE vinegar (of course without the coffee), this will clear out anything on the path.

Once you do this, run 5 cups of plain water (again without coffee) twice to clear out any vinegar flavor from the path.

you need to run a few pots of straight white vinegar through the machine to clean out the lime build up in the tubes. the first time you do it, after it starts to pump the water, shut it off for a few hours and let the vinegar sit in the tubes. after doing this run a few pots of cold water through before making coffee.

I do love our Cuisinart pot...but find they only last 2-3 years...so my suggestions is: if the pot is still in warranty, call Cuisinart for a new one...they are great about it. If you don't know if it is still in warranty, call them, give them the number and they will tell you.

Cuisinart grind and brew

This happens when the machine needs cleaned. Fill coffee maker with white vineger instead of water. Turn grind off, make sure empty pot is in place. Brew a pot of hot vineger. Repeat. Brew a pot of hot water. Repeat. This process removes mineral buildups inside machine. If you have access to filtered water, start using that to brew your coffee. I do and probably do this process 1 per 6 weeks.

Leaking cuisinart grind and brew

Our Cuisinart grind and brew was leaving a puddle under it after making a pot of coffee. I called Cuisinart this week and it turns out the handle of the carafe has to be lined up in the middle of the opening for the carafe. It will be under the word Cuisinart, in the middle.

We have now made several pots with NO residual puddle of water or coffee. It also seems to be making the pots quicker.

Before trying this I had run 2 pots of water with 1/2 cup white vinegar in it also. But it still puddled until we lined up the carafe as noted above.
